World Destruction RPG - first details

Developed by Imagepoch and being brought to the Nintendo DS by SEGA, RPG World Destruction first appeared in the pages of Famitsu last week. With figures famous for their involvement in the likes of Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy and Xenogears at the helm, there’s already a lot of interest - and today we learn the first details about it.

World Destruction’s main character is a young man named Kirie, who possesses the power to annihilate the whole world. He doesn’t know why he has been bestowed with such powers, but one say he is forced to join the so-called World Destruction Committee, which, as you may guess, is out to destroy the planet. Other characters, Morte (bold, but not too skilled) and Naja (half-man), Agan, and Lia (who is over 300 years old, but still looks like a child), also feature.

The new RPG features a turn-based battle system, in which players will accumulate Battle Points that can be used to trigger special techniques and combination attacks. Well-timed button presses will also see enemies having a close, close encounter with Mr. Pain.

Developer Imagepoch is promising to push the DS hardware to its limit in terms of visuals, which Japanese gamers will see in full when World Destruction arrives in the territory later on this year. No word of a Western release just yet, unfortunately.

looked on IGN, World Destruction is gonna be released on DS in Japan on Sept. 28(i think it said) meaning it hasn't been released yet (anyone telling you they have it already is lying). the anime and soon to be released manga (said to be coming near the end of the month in japan) are introducing the world to future consumers (pretty smart since you can't make a demo for a cartridge system). now i just wonder if it is a parallel to the story or a prequel leading into the game (kinda like .hack\\roots). can't wait to find out, hope it comes to the US

the anime was released before the game was released (game is not out in japan until september) so technically its an anime that was turned into a game....
