All I'm saying is, using a double bass and not reaching at least 100bpm mark is stupid and unnecessary when it is achievable through a single bass drum. I remember their old drummer played a single bass though. Oh and I've listened to quite a few of their records, even watched some of their live performances. For the record, I'm only bashing the drummer, not the entire band. The word "overrated" should be kept in mind as an opinion, be it good or bad (mostly bad). When it comes to music, I may seem pretentious but it's just one man's voice. If you or anyone else truly like the band, it shouldn't effect you in any way.
Then say that it's unnecessary and explain why as you've done. You seem like the type that knows the technicalities of music... however, there's no need to call the guy a "pretentious douchebag," 'cause that's simply insulting. If one doesn't like the music, fine. To each his/her own, that affects me in no way. But is there really any point in calling people names? I mean, if that's why you truly enjoy doing... then by all means. Besides, if i truly like the band, then I do believe that reading negative words would affect me. If I truly didn't like them, then I'd be apathetic, no? But when one of my favorite drummers is called a "douchebag," yeah, that's gonna evoke some emotions.
I enjoy getting on forums and such to read what other people think, I don't care if their opinions match up with mine as long as they're being respectful. Anyway, I'm not really hear to police people's thoughts. What's said is said.... I just had to make a comment about your previous post, is all.
And just to not get totally off track XD. I'm very much looking forward to 2011. In case you hadn't realized, I am a fan of Laruku's. So 2011 can't come any slower. Can't wait to see what the guys have planning.... and I'm also anxiously awaiting some music from their solo projects - especially ken's.
It's just a spontaneous remark. "Prententious douchebag" is nothing compared to the shit my favorite music genre has been taking for the past 40 years. Oh well, you can keep defending your lack luster drummer instead while people like Morgan Gren keep flying under the radar despite his amazing technicality and polyrhythmic finesse, it just shows how people have no eyes and ears for real talent anymore:
Gawd dude that was repetitive, the guitar line sucked and the drumming was ok, honestly I don't know why you would bash a dude randomly then say that guy is going under the radar...he's not that great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgeX9iYOFSQ
It seems you have missed the point of the entire video, which is to showcase the drummer, not put the guitarist in the spotlight. The actual song has him soloing. Drumming was ok? Then you have no idea how difficult it is to pull polyrythms like that.
If letting go means letting be, then the truth beyond the mind is what I see
