Macross mechas are more impossible than Gundams to be honest. Transformations between the 3 modes is much harder than making a bipedal Gundam (keep in mind I mean the RX-78-2 types, no Funnel system, no wings, no high powered buster rifles). Making tactical mechs like the Ishtar Mk-II and the Raiden from Gasaraki are more closer to reality because it is much more battle efficient and less costly. Better speed, smaller size, lighter weight, more choice in artillery, .etc.

what anime is garasaki?

^yeah, what will power gundams anyway?
if nuclear power is used, then it's a walking nuclear plant that ask for some meltdown.
if gasoline is used, then its MPG will probably suck + major pollution.

I think the space elevators in gundam 00 and the mass driver in gundam seed is conceivable. But I think gundams or other bipedal mechs can be possible but it is very impractical since the current trend of technologies that are being developed are getting smaller and more sophisticated, not larger and more complex. Besides, making gundams require great budget, materials, skill and talent to make the whole machine work.

i think the world will pass thru the mech phase 1st then on to the future that there maybe gundams. Endless wars will reign over the world when that happens. (insert evil laugh here)

It would destroy the world because people's nature is to go beyond others even if they commit sins.

Gundams are indeed impractical. But they are cool
i agree wanzers of labors would be more realistic from the looks of its size.
But then again are walking mechs really practical? Maybe... I do not know
Still... watching gundams/mobile suits is cool

Uh, probably not in our future. It'd probably take another 200 or 300 years for the idea of any form of giant mech to be seriously considered.
Besides, as much as I love them, the thought of a giant humanoid totting a giant gun is pretty frightening.

A Hi-Nu Gundam fan art. Hi-Nu Gundam is from the Gundam novel Belthorchika's Children.
