So, anybody like it?

On a only slightly related topic (great, going off topic already) the number of possible games in chess is 4.75364334 times 10 to the 122 power. As a comparison, the number of atoms in the Universe is between 4 times 10 to the 79th and 4 times 10 to the 81st. I saw it on wikipedia, so I don't know how reliable it is, but it's cool to think about, huh?

yea, i played chess in school, it sometimes hurts my brain but my chess teacher said stay patient and think wats ur next move. my friend, who was playing with one of the science nerd, he did four move check mate, and i was rite next to them with my mouth open in a perfect O.
its pretty nice playing chess but i wonder if you guyz noe how to do four move check mate? or any other way to finish the game pretty simple? lol

That's the fool's mate, I think. I'm not sure about the notation, I don't know algebraic very well

i normally dont go for the four move checkmates, unless im playing a beginner, or i know for sure its gonna work...every time i try to do it on someone good, i end up in bad positions, and end up losing...lol

so what do you usually open with? I enjoy fianchettoing (if that is a word) my bishops.

Hmm, the fool's mate is pretty simple, but only done if the opponent does two very silly moves with the pawns, leaving you just the right opening to checkmate.. Don't remember the notation either though..
then there are other ways of quickly getting a checkmate, but only work on newer players.. Besides, it's not fun to do it on a new player, rather, show him his mistakes and try to correct them, or lose the queen and rooks to make it fair...
Good people don't just plan their next move, they do it usually two moves ahead..
ichigoluvr, your friend, what players was he up against? Can't have been very strong..
For me, I am working on my own style.. like, I am pretty dangerous with the knights, usually "infiltrate" enemy lines and take out the rooks or even the queen..

^-^ chess!
I used to play it alot- i really enjoyed just playing it while chatting to a friend! It's really nice if the sun is out and you just relax on a field somewhere playing it ^-^.
I can't remember winning much although i did spend ages planning strategies! Thats what i like about it! You can make plans and certain moves- it's not a boring game that revolves around pure luck with a dice! ^-^
I should try playing again now although i don't know where my chess set is!

chess

i also used to play it a lot. it's a great way to kill time when the teacher or the substitute is absent . if i learned how to gamble at a younger age, i would've made a fortune playing chess .

yea that was during an elemrntary school tournament...i guess he was just lucky and was playing against the easier people...everytime i tried it, i just end up retreating..

i normally open up with the knights, and the bishops, and try to control the center...
