Violence is fine, but sex is bad?

Why is it that violence is more acceptable in the media than sex? Watch a few hours TV and you're quite likely to see violence in one form or another, often resulting in deaths, but it's acceptable.
Yet if a nipple slips out in a shower-creme advert, there's hell to pay and people get outraged?

I've never really understood this, not even from a "it's because of religion" perspective (afterall, Thou Shalt Not Kill is pretty darn important to Christians, for example).
What is to be fearful of when a bit of flesh is on the screen?

And connected to this - why is it that the older a film is, the more likely it is to be on during the day despite containing quite a lot of violence (Westerns in particular)? Just because it was made in 1962 doesn't mean that it's any less violent.

dude...the most visited sites on the internet are porn sites...and tv is filled wiff sex..just after 1:00am...and all movies have some sexual appeal...and as an example...Friday night..showcase...

Sex leads to violence, in my opinion. People want more to be more sexually appealing. People want more accomplishments and material wealth for their innate desires, comfort, attractiveness, pride, and self-importance. Violence is usually a product of these factors and most of these factors boil down to reproduction and one's need to appeal to the world and themselves. But there are also crazy people.

This effect is only really overtly visible in America, and mainly in the video game industry.

With video games, you can depict a man's guts being ripped out and wrapped around a tree trunk, but still
get a teen rating.

Show a nipple, instant M.

The same dynamic happens with out movies.

Hmmm...
i donno...???

eh..
good question =D
i really don't think violence is ok. there are certain situations where some people should get the crap beat out of them, however.
people find violence entertaining. there's alot of sex in the media too. and the same people making a fuss about the violence on tv and in video games are the same people who complain about sex too.

Anyone who has watched Metalocalypse would see this happen a lot. They censor cuss words like "fuck" and "shit", but having a guy being impaled in the head with a codpiece is fine.

plain ruse!!! now how the heck is a non-violent act where no blood spills, no arms cut, no heads roll become offensive? is this some brainwashing strategy to make controlling of population easier?

They're both acceptable to me lol, I personally don't care. Violence is entertaining and sex is well... I don't think I need to explain what sex is lol...

well thats a good point you bring...i mean people are much more accepting of violence than sex....whats worse is like that sex is something natural to humans....i mean we were made to have sex to procreate so why condone it so much....

violence is much more well uh violent (duh!) but the point is that were promoting something that should never be done....

sex is going to happen eventually so why make it soooo taboo
