Heard about Mawang months ago, eventhough i like Goong, i am not that interested in watching this drama back then. I am not a Jap-fan then, i am only a Kor-fan.

Then saw HanaKimi, fell in love with Ikuta Toma and now am crazy for this drama.
And after watching episode two of Maou, i'm itching to watch the Korean version too...

hmmm... which one is better the K-version of the J-version?

I have seen the korean version and I must say by far it is the best version...I love japanese dramas and I love how they try to make things fast pace but the first episode of maou was a little bit disappointment..they blatantly presented everything and compressed some of the scene highlights from the korean version. I am still watching it though, hoping that the next coming episodes they will put twists on it. This kind of drama needs a little bit of slow pacing but the japanese version rushed it...so we'll see...
Oh and i'm basing my opinion STORYWISE not on who are the ACTORS and ACTRESSES portraying in the drama because that would be a different discussion and forum hahahahahahaha

hahahaah.. yup.. i am actually asking storywise... the story is gripping that's why i am having thoughts if i should watch the korean version along with the japanese one.

if the actors and actresses were the discussion i will prefer Ohno over Ji Hoon and Definitely Toma with the other guy.. although i dont know about the psychic girl if Min Ah or the jap girl..

im just copying and pasting what i said before:

honestly the korean one was better for me so far (its only the 1st episode), but im still going to watch this openmindedly and judge from an honest point of view.

First off, i just wanted to comment on how they portray the devil in the japanese and korean one: korea made the devil a silent killer, while the japan one made the devil obvious showing his intentions and moves. same goal-revenge, but different portrayal.

Either way i hope this version shows the main message of the drama about (dont want to spoil)... As for symbolism and message & acting (Toma's acting and Ohnos didnt impress me much i got to say--but Toma is hot. thats a positive) i got to admit korea did a better job but we'll still have to see. Japan's version is not too bad.

as for actors, I prefer jjh in my opinion he improved a lot in Mawang from his Goong performance (I loved his looks in Goong not much on his acting skills but in Mawang I totally fell inlove with his acting skills...I don't think Ohno can surpassed jjh as the Devil) I still admire Ohno's acting skills not bad for his first time but no one could have portrayed the bette, gorgeous and cold devil than jjh...you have to see Mawang first, then you'll know what I mean..as for Toma, he is doing an excellent job I have no criticisms of him..in fact I think he is going to steal the show from Ohno hahahahaha..as for the girl, I like both the korean and the japanese actresses (although the japanese actress is cuter than the korean one)....as for the drama...like i said, menn....the japanese version better wow me....coz so far i wasn't impressed with how they just mix everything and looked chaotic to me...heheheheheh

oohhh.. now you're making me crumble... seriously.. i want to buy a copy of Mawang later.. heheheh
really JJH is much better than Ohno?

as for Toma, i'm really glad that you said that he is going to steal the show from Ohno.. hehehhe... i am a Toma fan, but whenever i watch Maou, i feel that i am looking out more for Ohno than him..

Watched the Korean version.. I must admit the story line is good but the fact is there were some parts that were dragging, to a point where i had to skip them..... (take note I also watch k dramas) and if a comparison were made I prefer the actor portraying the japanese version. JJH was good but i find the actor Ohno (is it?) to be much more chilling. As the story goes the lead actor should portray justification for vengeance he is seeking. JJH perfected a blank stare and sometimes did nothing to convince me of his hatred (although I must admit he looked good in the suit). JJH in other words was good in acting out the character as the script required but sometimes left me to feel nothing for his character. (Okay I blame scriptwriters for this or do I?)
The lead actor in Maou leaves an impression whenever he appears that he needs to be avenged. You come to like him as well as hate what he does and yet he makes you feel that his vengeance is justified. (This is just gleaning from 2 episodes of Jversion) This, meaning the actor makes you empathize with the character in the drama. So there lies my basis for watching this Jversion of Mawang.

Good point. I know a lot of people taught that Mawang dragged, but to me I love it because everything was really done and presented without a hint of doubt in your mind (if you have seen Meet Joe Black, it has that same kind of presentation, some movies or dramas are just meant to be done in a slow pace...i don't know I learned it from film appreciation class ages ago hehehe). In addition, the reason I condone the slow pace of the drama was because the Korean writers were super excellent in including lots of middle ages writers and philosophers..the qoutes that they used were brilliant (if i'm not mistaken middle ages was the dark era of the catholic church, and all the arts, paintings and write up were reflections of man vs. himself vs. evil within him)...so I forgave the "slow pace" or if you call it dragging part because I really love those kind of topics ....As for the actors, I prefer the blank stare of jjh than ohno's mad look all the time because with jjh you can't tell if he is mad or he has feelings or what? but if you watch his eye expressions from the very beginning till the end, it changes (well thats if you didn't skipped a lot, i told my friend who watch Mawang to not skip coz if you did, you will never see the development of the characters)...(if you have seen THE USUAL SUSPECTS with kevin spacey his last line in the movie i'm just gonna summarize it "the greatest thing the devil did here on earth was convincing us (people) that he doesn't exist and just like that he is gone", in the usual suspects kevin spacey did an excellent job, i think he won an Oscar for his acting skills he was soo good. ) For me personally, there are just some things that don't need to be rush..and japanese dramas are known for that (which is why I watched mostly japanese dramas, but this one...i think would be the very first jdrama that will disappoint me well i hope not, I'm still gonna watch how the directors and writers put a twist on this drama I'm open to everything who knows I might see what you see from it later on..right? so there...hehehe thats my piece...don't be mad...hehehehe

yeah TOMA is going to steal the drama from him thats my PERSONAL opinion, just like Toma stole the drama from Maki and Oguri in Hana kimi hahahaha...yeah, you should watch Mawang (but I warned you don't skip...its a little bit on a slow pace than the japanese version)
