Spoilers.
I can't seem to remeber something, in regarding sephiroth, how many of him are their?.

the first sephiroth was your first class soldier, whom eventually went insane after learning about his origin, he was then wounded or killed by cloud after being stabbed for the 2nd time and plumeting all that way down in the reactor. Now after this, Sephiroth body was found on another continent, in that block of ice that was used to activate black materia.

However in all that time another sephiroth was walking around in all of this, I'm guessing Sephiroth was cloned or something, because he seemed to have the exact mindset of the real sephiroth, but when was this new sephiroth created and is their just one?.

did i miss anything that explained the sephiroths?.Also if the real sephiroth was released from the ice, you reckon he would regenerate? when you attacked and destoryed Jenovas arms, they would regenerate, and sephiroth was frozen or something, he'd regenerate if let out.

It's like this...Do you remember all those people with the black cloaks talking about the 'REUNION'--you know, the guys scattered about Nibelheim with the tatoos on their arms? Those guys were basically like Kadaj and his gang, forms of Sephiroth missing the 'JENOVA' gene to recomplete him.

So based on highly educated conjecture, it is probably very likely that the Sephiroth who was walking around and killing people all throughout Final Fantasy VII was a recreated Sephiroth much similar to how he was incarnated in the Advent Children movie. And that Sephiroth is basically the real one living vicariously through another body and carrying out his destruction.

And the Sephiroth that was frozen was actually frozen in materia form, not ice. Remember that he was thrown into the lifestream by Cloud in the videogame (unlike the version that was told in the Last Order anime)? So another theory could be that he had turned himself into a summon and was constantly being resummoned to the planet's surface to do dirty things.

But anyway, he wouldn't regenerate because he's physically dead. Everything that he does is from a higher plane of existence as pointed out by Tetsuya Nomura. I think that covers it.
