I really wish America would stop remaking Asian films.
All of the movies from Asia I have seen were great as they were and
I highly doubt that the States can remake them as good without wreaking it.

I did noticed that when have the original compared to a remake in another country it is sometimes intrpereted wrong. Then again it just depends on what the remake is getting out of the original film.

First of all no offense to all the Americans, I am just talking about the Asian films being reproduce into American remake. I admire and watch lots of American shows, so don't hate me people..

Why do they need to remake all the asian films, Shutter, The Ring, The Eye, My Sassy Girl to name a few. If we can just watch it with different subtitles?

I don't know. The Departed was pretty good. It introduced it to a different audience. Of course, Infernal Affairs was cooler.XD, but the Departed was still one of the better remakes.

i have seen a lot of movies that were a remake of asian films the thing is if i wacht the remake first i'm like damn what a great movie then if i watch the original i think this one is way better.
but if it is the other way around i can watch the whole movie(asian) but the remake i never finish because i get bored and i keep thinking i have seen the original before watching this remake and the original is 1000x better

btw: american's aren't just remaking asian movies they have also bought the right's to remake a lot of europian film's
but that can't be compared to the remake of asian movies

wouldnt it be a compliment to have a drama or movie remade?
i mean, you've heard that if u want to make it BIG in the acting world, hollywood is the place to go. (example:Rain in speed racer and the upcoming ninja assassin, daniel henney in xman)

im not tryna say that asian movies are not great and all because i LOVE asian movies.
im jus saying that since hollywood is remaking your movie, it jus goes to show how great ur movie really was.

and yea, if u STILL hate remakes, then dont watch them!
dont waste ur time bein a hater on hollywood remakes.

to those who hate remakes: I'm with you. Nothing is worse than ruining asian great ideas.

to those saying ' don't watch if you don't like' : first of all if someone is saying he hate remakes, it doesn't mean that he is watching them. Is it bad to appreciate the original work and prostest over ruining it? The second thing is that americans have profit from something that doesn't belong to them. And it's all because of you. If you didn't watch it, they would stop. But there'll always be someone who doesn't care.
We need more supporters of asian masterpiece

FIRST OF ALL: the fact that everyone is saying "americans this and americans that." is offensive. I mean WTF? I personally didn't go and remake any films. So be correct and just say Hollywood. Some of you just sound like you're hating on America, and that isn't even the topic.

SECOND: American remakes of Asian horror movies sucked. Come to think of it the originals sucked to. Every single Asian Horror Film I've seen is basically the same thing. With the same bad guy. With the same idea. With the same.... almost everything. So I can't say I preferred the original. I will say that "The Lake House" was a crappy remake. I preferred the original in that case. But remakes are a double edge blade. There is good and bad. To be honest, if it wasn't for remakes, the originals wouldn't get recognized (here in America and other countries as well). I wouldn't have. People I know wouldn't have known about the original's titles either.

THIRD: "Americans have profit from something that doesn't belong to them" Uh hello? These remakes weren't stole or made illegally. The rights to these movies were SOLD, FAIR AND SQUARE. So the people that made, own, the originals you love put a price on them and sold them. Hollywood producers credit the originals and they don't claim the movies were their idea, they say "this is a remake of..." American remakes are making profit because Americans are paying to watch them in America. So if you want to blame someone for the crappy remakes, blame the producers the sold the films rights to Hollywood in the first place.

FOURTH: To answer the question. I think the Grudge is at the top of the worst remakes. And the Grudge 2. And One Missed Call.
