b.you listen to dragonforce so you pretty much know jack shit about metal

http://www.last.fm/tag/melodic%20death%20metal

good list of melodic death metal bands

i have a rule of thumb when it comes to metal,90% of the time if its american its garbage

but you just called dark tranquility "fucking brilliant"... now, i know dragonforce licks goat testicles live, but they're pretty spiffy when you put them in a studio... and you are aware of the whole "thrash metal" thing right? plenty o' good american bands there. America also does pretty well with Death Metal too. Europe has us beat on power metal and black metal though.

Melodioc Doom/Gothic Doom/Melodic Death Metal/Gothenburg/Whatever the fuck you want to call it is mainly european though so if that's what you're into I can see why you may think that most american metal sucks, but don't think that what you enjoy is the limits of all that is metal....

Even better.... from a different thread

only bands i recognize (aside from static x) are type o and saxon. don't know enough about saxon to recommend them (one of those bands you always hear about but never actually here). Type O is kinda hit and miss. If you enjoy tongue in cheek goth in a slow black sabbath music meets sisters of mercy vocals, you'd enjoy type o. I haven't heard their newest album yet, but i've enjoyed everything album (though not every song) i've heard by them.

Strength beyond Strength is a GREAT song by Pantera. It's right there with This Love. I found some of my Pantera cd's that have been neglected for too long and was listening to them...

I haven't looked at every page, but I haven't seen anyone talk about Job for a Cowboy.
Or Danceclub Massacre.
Or The Black Dahlia Murder.
Or Abigail Williams.

Ah, I see.
Hmm well I forgot to mention Through the Eyes of the Dead.
They're not excellent, but they're okay.
