Since nobody else has done so, I think I must argue for the topic creator's side (even though it was worded very poorly I think there may be some truth in it).

Suppose you see a well to do young white male, driving the nice new car his parents just bought him blasting "Damn it feels good to be a Gangsta" or "I'm Black, I'm Proud". Now do you truly think that this individual is not gonna be called a poser or tool or anything like that? Would you defend him against someone who did?

I feel that this topic was an attempt to turn around a much more often used statement of a person being too white (or being a poser/other more derogatory words) to listen to rap.

Thats because hip hop was primarily made to bring together BLACK community it wasnt meant for the caucasians it just happend to catch on....metal wasnt created by whites for whites african americans had a huge impact on what rock n roll was which is what metal stemmed from its very diverse and meant to be for anyone who relates to it...end of story

i agree with Kyocool on that

i don't see why not. everyone makes a big deal out of it but it's just music. no one says you have to listen to certain music just because of your ethnicity

...Its music.
People should be able to listen to what they like.
Be it emo, metal, rap, techno, etc..

is there a problem? the only thing i hate is the charater you'd turn into (cause of the music). not the race.

Just because a person listens to a certain type of music doesn't mean they'll take on all of the characteristics & stereotypes associated with the genre.

I know this may sound weird but hear me out, Music can change people's emotions and even their mode. No matter what the race. I prefer to listen to Jazz, Metal, and Rock before I would listen to say (for example) Country.

But All in All we should not judge people by what music they listen to. (Although 60% of the Emo kids I know are always depressed and are sad for the dumbest reasons)

As for what Nazareeni said peoples character is change because either they wish to fit in or maybe another reason unknown to us. The "character" is sometimes good or bad, it varies.

I agree with 8-ball but this is a stupid question. Who cares what race you are, it has nothing to do with what music you like. I've never heard such a pointless discusion. Im sorry if some of you think this is worth looking into.

:) Then apparently I fail @ life because my character has never been altered due to the genres I choose to listen to.

^_^; Thank-you.

& 'it's a choice' is all that needed to be said. Nazareeni made it sound as though, just by listening to a given genre, you're guaranteed a personality change.
