List some phrases or ways people have contradicting thoughts

Example:
My Cousin is Kuji Cao, he is 21, and is in the Military. He told me that the reason he is in the military is because he wants to stop people from needless dieing. But yet he is in the military killing people in other countrys....

I would like you to post your own contradicting thoughts or comment on mine

not exactly and i would like to see ur comment about this, ok hyporicy, is when someone makes up their own beliefs are true, such as some dude saying Jesus is god...and yet he has no proof, and gives vauge back-up, such as how people worship him and his stories.

Contradicting is different

here is the definition:
To assert or express the opposite of (a statement).

Ok, another example of contradicting is Code Geass, When Lyod asked Suzaku Kururgi, why is he in the army and fighting Japanese rebels on the Britanian side. He replied because he wants to stop all the needless killing on either side. He wants to protect but he is still killing to prevent the killing.

Do you get it now?

Girls tend to bitch about 'equality' but then use the fact that they are 'girls' to get the better hand in many situations.
It's just a result of society's gender roles.

Hypocrisy: (or being a hypocrite) is the act of pretending to oppose a belief or behaviour while holding the same beliefs or behaviours at the same time. (Wikipedia)
Which could, and often is, synonymous with contradicting oneself.
Simply example, I tell you "I hate apples" but then it turns out I actually love apples and eat them everyday. Your example with religion could also work if instead of 'having no proof' being the active ingredient, it would be something like "some dude saying Jesus is god just to get a job, but he is actually an atheist."

As for the killing to prevent killing issue you brought up, it's like this. In order to obtain a greater good, you have to kill a few. When you only have two choices and each choice will cause people to die, in order to preserve the greater good, you choose the lesser of two evils. He's not really contradicting himself. He most likely thinks that Britania would win no matter what and it's just a matter of time, so he wants to speed that time up, let Britania win sooner to avoid a long term war with more casualties than needed.

These kind of things are usually very vague though, the only kinds of contradictions we can be sure of for all practical purposes are logical impossibilities.
For example:
There is a uniform blackish-white colored round-square placed in your front, behind you.
1. It cannot be uniform black and white, by their definitions, at the same time.
2. It cannot possibly be round and square at the same time.
3. It cannot possibly be behind you and in front of you at the same time.

We all like to think of ourselves as honest people, but then we all do things that are not entirely honest (eg; "white lies") or behave in ways that are not entirely honest (Floof's post above is a very good example). It's something that we all deal with on a day-to-day basis. Look up something called Cognitive Dissonance for more info: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance

To offer my own justification, I do not see it as possible for a human to behave perfectly. Therefore the behavior becomes a problem when people get hurt either physically or emotionally. While I try my best to avoid that behavior, I must admit that even I occasionally do that kind of stuff.

Bottom line is that there's nothing wrong with you (or another person) if they have similar behavior, but as with Floof's mom (mentioned above) it can definitely cause problems if taken too far and the person doing it may not realize the affect that they're having on others.

G'night folks.
