You're kidding, right? You're going to tell the animation studio and publishing company that you're pissed off that you can't watch their property for free on Crunchyroll (a website that streams videos illegaly). Seriously, what do you expect them to think?

All you'd be demonstrating to them is that you're a selfish kid looking for free entertaiment. You really should remember that Anime is a business like any other. The Gakuen Alice anime was created with the purpose of selling DVDs and merchandise and boosting sales of the Manga. The money they made from Rightstuf licensing Gakuen Alice will contribute to future projects and new anime titles. Anime is NOT a charity, it is not in their interest to cater to people who don't buy their product.

What really annoys me is people who say that they're huge fans of a series, yet refuse to spend any money on it.
Rightstuf will be releasing Gakuen Alice (sometime in 2009) pretty inexpensively in a complete series DVD boxset with a recommended retail price of $50 (you will probably be able to find it for around $35 at online shops like DVDpacific or DeepdiscountDVD once it comes out). Knowing Rightstuf, they'll probably include some nice extras as well.

From my point of view, Gakuen Alice being licensed is GOOD NEWS, because it means i'll be able to buy it on DVD next year.

All I see is wah wah wah, I don't want to pay for anime, steal money from animation studios and mangakas, and let them starve while I laugh watching my illegal anime.

I don't think it's fair to be angry at the anime people, to want us to pay for something they produced to be paid for :D
But if the DVDs are coming out in 2009, and there isn't any other way to legally watch the program, it would be nice for it to be avaliable to some form..?
Although i guess they just want us to be really ready to buy it as soon as it comes out, because we haven't been able to watch it. but i dunno how they'd stop things like youtube and veoh?
okay. i'm shuushing now.

I just have to shake my head in disbelief whenever i come across this sort of comment. The amount of people that think that licensing is just another word for removing and think that anime series are licensed just to annoy people is astonishing.
The fact of the matter is that anime is a business like any other. American anime distributors license anime series in order to release them on DVD (and in the case of more popular series on TV as well). Now, why do you suppose they license good anime?
Because a good, popular anime will sell more DVDs than an anime that nobody cares for would, of course!

Another thing that gets on my nerves is people who claim to be huge fans of a particular series, yet refuse to spend any money on their favourite series.(This is not directed at you personaly,as i've noticed that you were asking someone about Gakuen Alice on DVD a while back.Keep in mind though that there's no legitimate english subtitled DVD release avaible yet, only bootlegs. The official release will come out in 2009, released by Rightstuf (Nozomi).) I really don't expect people to buy everything they watch. Nobody does that, not even me (though i do have a collection of 928 anime DVDs). I do think however that, if you considers yourself a real fan, you should at least be expected to buy your all-time favourite anime on DVD, and to make sure that you're buying a legitimate DVD release while you're at it. As for those who consider it a fun series, but not a favourite, they'll still be able to find Gakuen Alice on various other sites that don't remove anime once it's licensed, so it's not like they're left out.

As for Rightstuf, the company that licensed Gakuen Alice, the reason they licensed it is precisely BECAUSE there are fans that love the series and want to buy it on DVD. Rightstuf is popular among DVD collectors like myself for licensing lesser known, fan-favourite anime such as Gakuen Alice, Aria, Maria sama ga miteru and Victorian Romance Emma, that tend to be overlooked by other anime distributors.
