We're harsh 'cause other haters are harsh to our genre of music without having any "well-constructed" substance to back up their comments

rap is crap!!
i can't help being harsh on it, because the music is just really bad. but like everyone else, ill tolerate it at a club just because that's like the only music they play. There are some tolerable hip hop artist that i don't think they fall under the "rap is crap" category or the "stupid, dumb, and hyphy" shit.
try listening to them: people under the stars, jurassic 5, gorillaz.

I have trouble calling rap music because it's completely irritates me every time i hear it
But who knows, since i've only heard american rap from the radio and tv i can't judge it much on a global scale

This is a much more well-constructive argument..........I have more respect for this opinion. I don't see any1 else after this post making any well-constructive arguments than this (QUIT TALKIN OUT DA ASS!!!)

Mainstrean rap right now is crap. The kind of rap I HAVE to listen to sucks, but what can you do when the people love to listen to it. My fiance and his group of friends DJ on the side and they have to play the crap rap because they (the crowd) don't understand what is really good out there. And of course when they play something they have never heard of, they lose interest (even though the lyrics are great AND have an awesome beat). But whatever . . . .

Actually it's all ready been decided 98% of rap is beyond wrecthed.
You just seem to be some ignorant blackie who will listen to whatever the tele and FM radio feeds you.
Grow some ears and shift through all the bullshit and you might find a few decent artists out of the hundreds of talentless rap artists....it's the same with all genres of music just not hip hop

QFT........but apparently, the pro-rockers/rap haters fail to display the negatives of their fucking genre towards us. And the pro-hip hop ppl in here didn't even want to look into it, we were too damn focused in defending the rep of hip hop itself

The sad thing is...there isn't much of a reputation to defend for hip hop now a days since it's commericalization and the spread of sub par mediocrity.
All we can do is defend the few REAL artists who not only SHOULD personify the idea of what the genre should be but their intellgent msgs in their music as well.

Sadly big industry has decided people should be more interested in the "gangsta" aspects and ghetto fabulousness than convincing lyrical content.

I almost don't even want to blame it on the rappers themselves...i'm almost more inclined to say it's the labels fault for pushing such crap out there without thinking the hip hop community might want to hear verses with meaning and intelligence behind them.

I find it not only rude but just ignorant to assume since they depict the majority of hiphop nation as teenager african americans thats they aren't interested anything with significant or social meaning.
