Rap, got raped by the mainstream much like punk did. But, there's still good underground stuff. They will call out the mainstream stuff. Ultimately rap isn't for me though. Just personal preference.

Bling. Bah! I hate materialism! XP

Can anyone tel me why, they use so much language? Really annoys me, hearin Motherf*&^er every other sentence.

Rap? It should be called cellphone music. Rap songs today, if you can call 'em that, only sound good as ringtones. 'Nuff said.

QFT, that's what I've been preaching all along. But that's only towards today's mainstream hip hop music............with exceptions to a few mainstream hip hop artists. Cursed Ringtone Rappers

Old skool rap and alternative rap is cool, and so is reggae [what rap originated from] but now rap is just a bunch of fat guys advertising alcohol, violence, and promiscuous behavior for our culture which doesn't need it!!! and yes, rap is just bad poetry.

People, you all need to relaaaaaaax...

OBVIOUSLY not everyone's going to have the same taste in music. The entire reason WHY there are so many different types of music is because there are so many different types of people.

Honestly...

We ain't got a prob if they don't like hip hop, it's how the ppl state their opinions of how much they hate it is the problem. As it was said in the quote below

1. To all the people who say 'rap is crap' at least respect my preference of music, i hardly see any rap/hip hop fans talkin down on other genres. And if you gonna keep repeating that corny-ass phrase at least have some original justifications/support for your position.
Just in case u were too ignorant to notice, most of the pro-rap/hip hop people are in agreement that there are A LOT of wack-ass rappers in popular media... so MOVE ON with your next reason why rap sucks

Yall can say u don't like hip hop/rap, I'm fine with that. But don't go diss my fucking genre with "str8 outta da ass" comments, at least give some respect to it.

Thats so funny I forgot to laugh.

Check it man if u don't listen to rap enough to judge it, don't comment that shit. I know people might be putting rap in one catagory after listening to "Crank That". naah. thats not Hip Hop. People can relate to hip hop, in one way or another. hip-hop is not dead, yet. there's alot of rappers that are still livin that ain't gettin promoted. why don't u dig em up?

Believe It Or Not.

really now guys. "rap is crap" was a funny slogan....a decade ago, but i think it's a little worn out. time to trade it in for something new. my suggestion is intelligent speech.

as for the subject at hand, with all this reading, i have to say i forgot who said what where but but whoever it was, i agree with you :D
what i'm talking about is how many rappers today are jumping on the money train that involves clubs, hoes, bitches, bling, gettin' krunk (or crunk? im sorry, i really dont know how it's spelled). this would not be bad if only a few rappers would have started this train and left alone on it. it would have remained original but it no longer is. i do not so much have a problem with this new bling-ed out, mainstream rap as i do with the fact that no one seems to want to contribute something original to the mix.

despite all this, i still highly respect hip-hop and rap as a form of music and i do think that comments like "rap is crap" do little but make whoever said them seem just a little more braindead
