most people disliking rap dont even explore the genre enough. they just hate it based on mainstream stuff they hear. other genres have bad artists too but they dont get nearly as much flak as rap does. hip hop will never die and rap now isnt as bad as everyone says it is.

I agree with you.

As someone who loves rock and metal, I recognize that rap and hip hop was another great genre of music...not so much today because the lyrics are garbage since they only depict sex, violence and party themes(mainstream music...but it's the people who make others popular so I blame it on the teens). But I know there are some gems somewhere, we just gotta search harder...

I wish I could see more artists as good as Bob Marley(reggae), Lauryn Hill, John legend, Alicia Keys, the Fugees, Coolio...Boyz II men(R&B) etc those are amazing singers.

I love to watch Poetri, a friend of mine told me that this is how hip hop/rap and those genres were born, so I appreciate rappers who sing from their hearts and not just for money. plus, this show is so much better than the stupid american Idol tv show.

Not my cup of tea
I've tried listening to hip hop because some of my friends listen to it but I can't seem to like it. There's too much repetition and in mainstream hip hop the lyrics tend to be superficial or don't make any sense. To answer the thread it is music I just don't think that it is very good music.

I can only speak for myself of course, but I find mainstream artists like Madcon and Kanye West to be much more enjoyable than more underground artists like Necro.

its quite opposite for me....i have a taste/peference for underground rap more than mainstream. UG rappers like Busdriver, Freestyle Fellowship....i still consider Jurassic 5 underground. I agree about Necro....he just sux. its has nothing to do with underground rap.
