Says the guy with the avatar of a guy getting shot repeatedly. Seriously, it's not a perfect show, but at least try to look for better reasons to not like it than the female form.

@Gharf : if you dont watch till the end,u wouldnt like it,and i hated it at first..but i liked it when i finished it,thus im in this forum.

@Enyce02941 : it has other reasons to liking it such as the mecha n funny scenes,it also has a dramatic feel to it with perrine showing hostility against yoshika cuz she was too close to sakamoto

I posted this along time ago and I just dont watch this kind of anime.

Moe factor aside, I feel that Strike Witches (like Sky Girls) introduces a very refreshing concept to the anime realm and the sound production really superseded my expectations; really shining through during aerial battles.

Also, OP grammar is your friend. Don't be afraid of it.

I'm a WWII fanatic and a loli/moe fanatic as well. WWII + loli/moe = Strike Witches = Total fun for me.

It's the Pantsu clad, Gar, Mecha, Loli/Moe, Yuri, furry answer to the question " How many fetishes can we stuff into an anime and get it voted Family Friendly?"

Huh? theres another reason for liking this anime aside from the lolicons that doesnt even know the concept of pants or skirts and has no sense of shame? FOR REAL?

actually yeah. I find the gratuitious panty shots of underage girls and the lack of pants/skirts even when not wearing the striker units (which would have made -some- sense, as oposed to the established: "every girl is un-selfconciously pantsless" logic) detract from that for which I actually watch the episodes.

IMO it would have been a BETTER anime if the panties where a little less gratuitous. but it's a half decent one nonetheless.

In fairness, I guess I should answer the OP as to what appeals to me about Strike Witches if the panties don't. (it's not that lightly sexualised themes and images are bad, per se, I just think strike witches often, but not always, crosses my comfort threshold with those themes and images)

Anyhow what draws me:

1) the amusing take on alternate history. especially the idea of flying aces as cute girls.

Chuck Yeager as a buxom blonde is hilarious.

My own country's Billy Bishop as a shy parochial school girl is amusing too. (though I don't understand why she has to be english. They had their own share of aces. Canada doesn't begrudge it's service to the empire nor it's place in the commonwealth but jeez folks. credit where credit is due: 4 of the top five aces from 'British' lands were canucks. I wonder what the strike witches take on Raymond Collishaw would have been.)

I actually found my self doing a little light web investigating of 'Ace pilot' lists and historical bios to try and sleuth out just whom all the girls were supposed to represent. I think I found most of them. The only ones that gave me real trouble were the japanese aces since their names were changed more drastically than those of the other strike witch characters.

Now, I think there's character guides out there now that save you the legwork (which for me was half the fun. I didn't know the Finns had an air ace. No reason why they shouldn't have one or more, but I didn't know.)

2) The world war two tech. I'm a gun nut and military miniatures player. I loved trying to figure who was toting what squad support weapon. who was supposed to be what kind of aircraft and all the actual aircraft, tanks and ships used by the bit players.

3) the Action: Gratuitious crotch shots aside, the air battles where exciting and grand and full of action hero fun. background music for the fights was stirring.

4) the drama: the main plot and most of the character backstories and development were not bad at all. Perhaps they were not top drawer but nothing to really detract from the story. It kept me coming back for more.

5) SOME of the girls. (the ones who I could think of as women): Even here I found the excessive panties created a sort of panty-inflation where the sheer number of 'money shots' was devaluing the currency. The hottest shot in the whole series IMO was Minna in her 'torch singer' outfit singing a classic WWII farewell song.

That's what's good about the show. I've got nothing against glimpses of the unmentionables of ink and paper creations that I can imagine are -women-. There are times even, when a humourous approach at a degree of devience ( Shizuharu's efforts to suborn her captors in My-Otome comes to mind) can produce an amused "LOLWTF?" but in general I found the panties in strike witches, excessive and illogical. Also, the sexualizing of characters who did not cross my personal appears-old-enough threshold just made me feel icky.

PS: I forgot to add that the whole animal-diety manifestions of the girl's powers was cute too.

I like this anime because... of the exciting aerial combat and explosions. Yep that's it.

The lolis? Of course not... what kind of absurd accusation is that

At the risk of sounding like "I only buy playboy for the articles"

I really do enjoy this anime in spite of, not because of, the lack of clothing on the lower half of the characters. I'd like to see more of the story and less of the 'no one wears pants/skirts' stupidity. If they ever make more, i will probably watch it.
