I'm always using jisho.org It offers a lot to you from word selection, how to write the kanji, and sample sentences.

I didn't see this thread before, wow...

Warning: DON'T USE BABELFISH! That site may get simple things down, but it disregards the proper sentence structure on some occassions, especially long sentences! I've used that site before, and it gave me direct, English format-like translations rather than [subject]+[object]+[verb]. If you do use Babel, BE CAREFUL
