Lol. I don't really like any of the johnny boys. Some are too feminine, some are too overrated, some are ugly, and some can't sing but are singers, and can't act but are in dramas. I never got why they were so popular.

mm... well, looking @ Arashi. I'd have to say that I hate whoever picks out their costumes for their concerts. Their costumes are usually VERY GLITTERY, or VERY FEATHERY...Some of their dance moves are also pretty feminine, and I'm not only saying that for Arashi, I'm saying that for Hey!Say!7/Jump! also..

All (except maybe 3 or 4) have bodies like pubescent boys...
They're always kissing eachother...
Anytime one of them decides to take off their shirt for a photo shoot or act their age, tons of 13-16 year olds will whine about how gross they are being...(ex. Yamapi AnAn-which is a WOMEN's magazine)
I like some of the JE guys but I think it's the extreme fangirls who annoy me the most...

I don't like what they wear most of the time, the obviously scripted fights/activities (though they can be fun to watch), the crazy fangirls it attracts, and how they forcibly break up happy bands to form not-so-happy bands that would rake in the cash for them.

I actually love them. For the most part they are hot or cute and they do have talent. As for the costumes and choreagraphy, I though that that was kind of normal in Japan... I saw a lot of different Jgroups and performences and a couple of them were similar to some of JE's . (I'm not saying Japan has gay artists, I'm just saying that I though that was a normal style in that country.I personaly don't hate it although it can be weird at times) I'm not saying it is, I'm not japanese so I wouldn't know, if anyone can state me wrong than please do. Those are just my thoughts.

One of the things I had a problem with at first was the rules they have to follow. The ones about their personal lifes, like they can't date until a certain age, or when one of the NewS member was caught underage drinking, they got suspended for a year... I though that maybe they were going overboard here but I though about it later on and it is probably a good thing to. I don't know if it's for the company's image or for the well being of the guys, but I think of it as a good way to keep them out of trouble...

Anywho, they've got <3Yamapi <3,Tackey,Ryo,Tegoshi and many others in it so I can't hate them of course.

i love them too =)

Just to clear things up. They are allowed to date, they just can't make it official. There have been many incidents in the past where the fangirls totally go berserk on the 'supposed GF' of any Johnnys.

Case in point, when Yamapi was rumored to date this Jpop girl (I forget which group she was in) when he was a Junior, her fan stood in Yamapi's line (where fangirls give gifts to their favorite Johnny's after Shonen Club) and attempted to throw an unknown liquid into his face. Yamapi was lucky that Jin and Tackey were there to protect him because they all thought it was acid. Because of a dating rumor, Yamapi almost had acid poured on his face...imagine the psychological scar that left him.

Therefore, it's dangerous for any Johnnys to publicly declare that they have any GFs. By the way, this rule was not created by Johnny, but by his sister. Therefore, this rule is pretty recent. They are allowed to date, go clubbin, drink and smoke.....but under radar (away from the media).

As for Uchi's incident, he was arrested for public misconduct. He was found to be drunk... and underage. It's a known fact that many Johnnys and many young Japanese men drink underage. But when Uchi was caught, he broke the law. Johnny had to do something to appease the public...because, simply stated, a Johnny was publicly caught breaking the law. That's why Kusano was suspended too, even thought he was NOT caught drunk or caught drinking. A simple photo of him sitting with a drink in front of his published in a magazine was enough for Johnny to set action because the incident happened less than a year after Uchi's incident.

I hope that cleared things up =)

the JE actors do look good, but they're kinda weird and feminine sometimes too.

I prefer similarly good looking actors, oftentimes, when they're from a different industry as they seem more like "real boys".
anyone else agree?

actually, if you don't - - maybe make a counter argument?

When talking about things such as the femininity of actors in Japan, I think it is important to also realize that feminine boys are very popular. And since popularity is what drives the entertainment industry it makes sense that Johnny's would dedicate itself to one of the most popular fads in Japan... bishounen.

I certainly am all for the manly men, but I don't mind the feminine boys either. I guess it really just depends on my mood... and the drama or the band.

I think it is part of their selling tactics...Make actors look damn good that they're good enough to even look like pretty girls...
