Blah blah blah. They only have meaning when you give them meaning.

I do believe that dreams have meaning, but not in the assumed way. Many have published texts on interpreting dreams, drawing back upon history and literature for the established meanings of the "symbols" we dream of. Essentially, the semiotics of dreaming are straight forward. I, however, do not believe that the meanings of the things we dream of are the same for every person. Rather than a set standard, dream meanings are dependent more upon the individual and the meanings they find in their own lives. For instance, an apple presented to a child could bring them back to a memory of theirs, the association of that apple with that memory cemented by their own personal experiences. Present that same apple to a different person- say, an apple grower- and they can interpret its meaning on a whole other plane. Therefore, the meaning of the symbol itself is dependent upon the person who encounters the symbol, and not a universal meaning of it.
So yes, dreams have meanings, but those meanings depend on your own personal perception of them.

Dreams are collections of your experiences and thoughts and stuff. Maybe something in a dream might help you figure out an answer to something that's been plaguing you, or help you remember something from your past or something.

But do dreams "mean" anything? No.

Yes. Dreams have some kind of meaning to our subconscious mind that doesn't make much sense to the conscious mind. I think dreams are a way for us to sort out daily life out or to work out any problems/fears you may have in a "safe" way. (In other words, you won't get hurt while dreaming). Usually the dreams I remember are about me being late for work/getting to "that important test that will determine your life" or something like that.

I feel that dreams work as a preview for events that could happen or are going to happen in the future.

The main purpose of dreams is to entertain us while we sleep. There are times that dreams can help use work something out in our real world lives or help us remember some event or plan out future events. I've used dreams in the past to plot out conversations or tasks, to pretty good and accurate effect. Of course it doesn't necessarily go as you see in the dream, because responses to your words/actions are as you would anticipate them from the knowledge and experience you have.

I've never tried to use a dream to my advantage; I wonder how it would play out. Do you remember them with no problem or do you have to write them down? I find that I forget even my lucid dreams unless I write them down immediately...which I never do ^^;

I do! I absolutely believe dreams have meaning!

I even use an online dream dictionary! I go to dreammoods.com, lol...

Anyway, what about you? Do you believe your dreams hold meaning to your waking life?

If this is a duplicate, please lock this. Thank you

If they are recurring dreams then yes. I would also like to know (for free) what they mean and why I may be having them. Most of the dream analysis sites I have researched either say I must sign up and surrender my personal e-mail address or pay a monthly membership fee which both I refuse to do.

Some dreams have, because our minds subconsciously work while dreaming, we are like superhumans because we design the picture of our dreams and create people without knowing we actually do that..

It might have some meaning to it, or you just subconsciously want that to happen

dreams do have meanings.
They are our unconscious desires.
you might want to ask a psychologist if you are curious about your dreams
