My grandma had a massive stroke this week. I'm really struggling processing this whole situation...I don't even think I've actually realized the seriousness of it yet. My grandma is parlazed on her left side and can only say yes or no to some questions. We packed up and left everything to go to BC to be with her but I felt really useless. My church isn't being as supportive as I thought they would be. My grandma is like the mother of that church but yet only 2 people have come. It concerns me. I started this topic so I could hear some other people who were put in the same or similar situation and how they handled it. It be nice if people prayed for me too because I feel like a mess.

Are you more upset that your grandmother has a stroke, or that people aren't coming up to extend help? Don't rely on people's sympathies or support, because it'll be lacking, compared to when you lean on Jesus's bosom for love and strength. He will never leave or forsake the church of christ, and same for your grandmother.

Sometimes, the times when we can't do anything is the time we need Christ the most. People somehow feel that being christians means that we are obligated to help one another. That's true, but the main reason why people gather in churches is to listen and behold Jesus, for his words are life and healing to all, not man-centered sermons. So don't feel unhappy because not many people are helping, or that your grandmother has a stroke, be glad that Jesus is and will be the saviour of all those that keeps coming to him. Have communion with the Lord with your grandmother. A communion marks the rememberance of the body of christ, and the blood that was shed, him giving up his life so we can have his. When Jesus restores, it will be better than when you started out. A communion not only reminds you of the sacrifice, but reminds God of the sacrifice as well.

Don't stop believing, and like the story of the feeding of the 5000 in the gospels, don't look at the size of the problem, or the smallness of resources, look at the bigness of our God, he is your king shepherd, and he is your God when you need him or not. That's the reason Jesus is here for. We are to go to him WITH our problems and worries, and just by beholding, just by confiding, just by being near him, you CANNOT be leave, inheriting his health, life, because he has so much in abundance. Draw from the Lord, do you know that he delights when man takes from Him?

:) I would tell you to worry not, but that's hardly easier than done. I'll say, go to Him with your worries, and watch the power and love of God melt it away, transferring you and your grandmother warmth, strength, life and peace.

Thanks for reminding me to lay my problems before God! It's true it helps majorly. But I also find it comforting to know other peoples stories about a similar situation. My life has blessed to have no major tradagies. This is the biggest upsetting situation I have known. I'm scared that since she lives in BC and my family lives in Alberta that she will be lonely and go crazy not knowing what's going on with this and my Grandpa needs people with him to help him get along. He is more of a mess than anyone in the family. I'm upset because my grandma is the one who brought me to the Lord. I tell her everything. It's upsetting to see my grandma unable to move on her domiant side or talk the mile a minute she usually does. It makes me sad to know she's not able to read her Bible since no one is willing to read it to her, she's also not able to listen to her hyms because the hospital will not allow it. But thank you a ton! Because I did forget to lay this in front of the Lord, which I believe is important to do.
