I realize that romance involves "adult intimacy" but isn't the more important aspect the characterization and the link beyond physical?

I think it's good that top priority is not placed on the characters making out etc. The development of relationships, and the ability to spend time with someone without making out is a good sign for long lasting relationships, and is a good example to set; as opposed to hollywood where everybody has done it by the halfway point (I'm generalizing here, I realize, but not too much)

Isn't the rarity of the kissing scenes a plus, then it's far more touching/sweet?
Also, as with most romance stories, movies, books, the story basically ends when the couple get together, why should they kiss excessively before then? Would it hold nearly as much meaning?

yea but we need more of those affection scenes where the main guy catches the girl when she falls and they look into each others eyes with blushes

and the girl has to fall why? corny scenes where both end up blushing is fine, but a guy will never trip and catch onto his girlfriend (or potential) without it being seen as perverted or something, or if you can find an example where it isn't?

Affection is fine, holding hands, patting heads, hugs, etc, but excessive use of these will diminish the "moe" factor, and maybe the depth of character.

watch Kimikiss Pure Rouge >.>

So now Kimikiss Pure Rouge is the general idea of romance anime? I think not

it was decent, decent i will only give it that

kimikiss pure rouge is an anime that is defined as: watch and forget and never think about >.>

I am saying, that elfen lied ended well. There is no need to ruin a good anime by adding unnecessary romance in it.

Though it's not what the base of this argument is about.
I sublate your reality and replace it with my own.

then what's your idea of romance in animes! are you happy with all good things starting in the last episode even though it may be a teaspoon of a good romance relationship?

Red:
My idea of romance is something like Black Cat, though this has nothing to due with the discussion

Blue:
I am satisfied with whatever the result of a romance anime, each is unique and gives you a different type of view

Why the hell are you asking me personal questions anyways?

cause you're arguing with me instead of giving me animes that have limited romance >.<

Besides, you're fighting a lost argument

yea the kissing scene between your favorite couple makes you want more right? heh i love seeing great couples kissing or being affectionate with each other (i guess the best couples and thier kissing scene happens in the last episode for some/most animes with romance!)

u end up being a lil disapointed with the storyline in the end if at least they could get the relationship to its peak at the middle of the anime and make it develop throughout the other half it would be perfect

Okay, romance has it's limit and if it's passed over the limit, the storyline gets ugly. I must say, Elfen Lied ended perfectly, don't change it but for the OVA it's a different story. (Not that I care since I kinda don't want to watch the OVA) Either ways, I say Romance is okay but don't go overboard. Like how many kisses do you want in the freaking story? I think if the kisses are more rare, it attracts the watcher/reader and every kiss helds its special moments. Like if you ask for a lot of kisses, later you'll be like, "urg...it's the freaking kiss again, end already." Or at least in my perspective. It's exactly like that.

I expected or just really wanted more kissing scenes/"affectionate" scenes in these animes. There only problem is that theres no "aftermath" where you get to see them again but kissing each other more- i meen like a second season(or more)! Heres my list:
Clannad- yeah, Okazaki needed to kiss Negisa more often cause episode 23 was only the tip of their relationship but sadly was also the real final episode and even in episode 24 with Tomoyo, they needed more kissing but the way Tomoya grabbed her and hugged her was breathtaking.
Eifin Lied- (yeah i know its not under romance) Lucy and the main male character needed more kissing (didn't like that there was one long but passionate kiss before she left to fight the soldiers → not sure if she died or not)
Kimikiss Pure Rouge- I wanted to see Mao and Kuchi kiss more, they were a great couple and that kiss at the ending was not enough for me =/
School Days- the main male character and the girl who kept his head needed more love (or more intimate "activities") though all those other girls were skanks who got in between the relationship (it would've worked if he stayed with one of those girls but hes quite the perv.

I'll keep editing after i find more anime and i apologize if this is a duplicate.

Edit!! - Itazura Na Kiss - perfect example of good romance becausee theres still a story even though the girl married her dream boyfriend (series has not ended!)

.....in Itazura Na Kiss.....she marries?!?!
i want the rest of the eps.to come out now!
