Regarding Groups

Obligations for Crunchyroll Users.
Upload, post, submit or otherwise transmit any User Submissions or Translated Content that are unlawful, obscene, harmful, threatening, harassing, defamatory or hateful or that contains objects or symbols of hate, invades the privacy of any third party, contains any pornography, erotica, child pornography or child erotica, is deceptive, threatening, abusive, inciting of unlawful action, defamatory, libelous, vulgar or violent or constitutes hate speech or is otherwise objectionable in the opinion of Crunchyroll;

It has come to my attention that you, the staff have decided to ignore some of the violations of this rule. Partially when it comes to groups. Upon reporting these inappropriate groups I received a PM from a moderator named Jorlwind. He told me that, and I quote.

"Hello,
While it's in the TOS, the mods have changed the policy of hentai groups in order to be able to regulate them.
Hentai groups will be allowed under the condition that,
They are closed or secret (If they get reports, they must be changed to secret)
They scan new members for age.
They have no hantai/pornographic music, links, or photos in their profile page.
They do not advertise.
Only if the group doesn't comply with these rules after a warning is issued are they locked/deleted
."

I replied by saying "Alright, even though I don't agree with this I'll stop. However I must question this bending of the rules. Why is this allowed?"

He replied by saying "Because the mods don't have the tools to track down and delete the majority of the hentai groups. This way, we believe we can offer better protection for the whole of the site.
As in all things, we have to compromise
."

Four days later this post was made in the News Forum

The rules concerning adult groups.

A lot of people have been reporting these groups lately, but do not seem to know what the rules governing these groups. As of the moment, adult groups are discouraged, but are allowed to exist peacefully. As of this moment, the mods are deciding the official rules these groups must follow, or even if they'll be allowed, but the interim special rules they must follow are,

1. Their group status must closed or secret group.
2. No hentai/porn on the profile page.
3. No links to hentai/porn sites or images on the profile page.
4. PG-13 music on the profile page only.
5. Groups should screen new members and tell them what to expect.
6. Be responsible with invites - ex: don't invite 12 year old children in.

At some point we hope to have a personal filtering system that will block you from seeing adult groups. In the mean time, if the group is not violating the rules don't report them asking them to be destroyed because the content offends you. Just look away. = \ Also, so there is no confusion: Adult material is still banned within user profiles/galleries.

Also: since the rules concerning adult groups are in a state of change, it remains up to the site moderators to decide how they deal with the group - in short, they reserve the right to block the groups for any reason they see fit, whether they are within the rules or not.

So from what I gather, you "the staff" will not enforce the Code of Conduct because you don’t have the tools to track down and delete the violations. “At some point we hope to have a personal filtering system that will block you from seeing adult groups.” Ok, so until then you’re just going to let them break the rules that they said they would follow when they joined. It sounds to me like you are too lazy, or maybe your just understaffed. “Also: since the rules concerning adult groups are in a state of change, it remains up to the site moderators to decide how they deal with the group - in short, they reserve the right to block the groups for any reason they see fit, whether they are within the rules or not.” Wait, so the rules don’t matter, what matters is the moderators say in the matter. I let these people get away with breaking the Term of Service. And I was under the impression that it is the Moderators duty to moderate the site and enforce the rules. Sounds like you’re abusing your power to me, or is it the neglect of responsibility?

And it’s just not inappropriate groups; there are a lot of groups with that violate the Copyrighted Materials: No Infringing Use. I do thank you for getting rid of that one group that I reported though. But you guys are just not doing a good enough job. So perhaps you need a new kind of Moderator. You have Forum Moderators and you have Media Moderators. What you do not have is Group Moderators. And would it be too hard to make it to where they can see everything that’s in a closed or secret group without having to join.

I do have a question, and if the answer is no then I guess it would be a suggestion. Do you have a Warn System? I'm sure you know what that is. I'm guessing you guys don’t like banning someone outright so perhaps this could be helpful.

To the Forum Moderators
Another thing, the forums are a mess. It plainly states in Terms of Service that vulgar and violent speech is not allowed. Last time I checked vulgar speech consisted of cursing. And yet I see nothing being done about this. Like I said are you too lazy, or are you understaffed. Either way, you’re doing nothing about it. Either do your job as Moderators or expand your staff. For goodness sake, do you even have a word filter? There are also pictures in the forums that aren’t rated X but are defiantly not rated PG-13, either due to erotica or extreme violence.

To the Media Moderators
One more thing, please give ratings for all your series and then give a reason. PG for whatever reason, PG-13 for whatever reason, and R for whatever reason. I know you have put some warnings up a few anime due to the conduct inside and I thank you for it, but like I said. It would be great to do this for everything.

One Last Suggestion
Let’s completely remove the All-Time Crunchiest option. It serves no purpose except telling us that a bunch of people pressed this button. This is the most popular anime. Well, we know that already and we don't care. But there is something wonderful you can do with that space. Turn it into a recommendations list. I know the staff members have their own picks and super picks, well how about you get together once a week nominate anime to go on the "currently recommended anime" list. It doesn’t even have to all be weekly nominations; you can have a monthly nomination as well. Just please do something useful. We can already tell what’s popular with Recently Popular Anime List so there is no point for All-Time Crunchiest List. This "Currently Recommended Anime" List that I propose would help people find some anime to watch other than the ones that are currently airing.

I would thank all of you for taking you time to read this.

It seems I have made a mistake. If this thread is deleted for that reason I will repost this in the chat with mods thread, but until then I'd rather not double post.

All reported Hentai groups will not be blocked if the Moderators can't see the image, but if they see some inappropriate image in the front page, they will give the creator one or two days to remove it or change the group to secret.

Three groups and three users have been warned about inappropriate content, and please use this
