Gekkan Songs - August 08 Issue (HSB Talk Part 1)
– When you first heard “Your Seed”, what was your impression?
Takaki: Because our first and second single were continuously cheerful songs, I was shocked that it turned out to be a more mature song.
Yabu: I once thought that I would like us to release a danceable single someday too. I was happy to see that this was fulfilled at quite a quick timing.
Hikaru: It’s a cool song but it has some freshness as well. I think it has a really awesome balance.
Daiki: The sound is quite kakkoi, so I would like the guys (males) to listen to it too. Because it’s catchy, it’s suitable to be a cellphone ringtone as well, right?
Inoo: That’s right ne. I thought that the first English lyric was especially kakkoi. But singing the song was difficult~
Takaki: Because it’s super rapid singing ne. However, this is the main point right?
Yabu: In order not to stumble over their words, everyone worked hard. (laughs)
– It’s not just the song, but the lyrics also became somewhat mature ne.
Yabu: That’s right ne. Like the strength to believe in ourselves, like ‘no matter what we must not give up and keep moving forward’, these are not communicated across gently, but rather, I think these are lyrics that lead us on strongly.
Hikaru: Because this is the image song for the movie “Kungfu Panda”, even during the singing of the song, I can sense the strength. Personally, I like the phrase “No matter when, there’s always a chance.”
Takaki: Ah, I like that too.
Yabu: I have a deep impression of “Compared to vague rumours, isn’t it better to believe in yourself?”
Takaki: But combining all the singing, lyrics and melody, I think there is just one message. Therefore, don’t think about the difficulties, just be cheerful whatever it is, and work hard from tomorrow onwards. It will be great if the song can move everybody’s hearts in a positive way, even if it’s just a little bit.
Inoo: Right. Whether it be troubled moments or when one is feeling lost, if people can look/go forward through listening to this song, I will be really happy.
– In a place where everyone is around, dancing is also one of the important aspects ne.
Hikaru: We filmed the PV some time ago, but we really danced hard without the single up till now. From morning till night, we did nothing but dance. To put it clearly, it was really tough. (laughs)
Daiki: Having to sing while dancing, that’s tough work once again. (laughs)
Takaki: The set was exquisite ne. Was it the LED, the pretty light. That was awesome.
Daiki: There was a mysterious feel right?
Inoo: And also, the silver bamboo ne.
Hikaru: There were bamboo trees in front of us. Something like, the bamboo, the light, and then me. We talked a lot about the set; and the bamboo being more eye-catching than us was also a trouble, and we were making preparations for it to that extent.
Yabu: It’s going to be a Chinese-style ambience right? Even during the dance, I had the feeling of going somewhere for a kungfu trip. (laughs)
– So what’s the listening point of the song?
Takaki: It’s still, after all, the first English portion that made me want to sing it in a cool way.
Yabu: And the last part “Never Ending Story” contains the highest note. Compared to the other phrases, we had to sing like our voices came out from the inside of our stomachs.
Daiki: Anyway, it’s kakkoi on the whole!!
Hikaru: This time, we had a recording director different from the usual one. I have a feeling that this nervousness seems to have made a natural connection to the mature theme of the song.
Inoo: When singing the chorus, all the fans also sang along through their image of dancing!
Yabu: Right, right. There’s a dance choreography that allows everyone to dance together. Please remember the steps and I hope everyone can dance with us!
– About “Bouken Rider”, what kind of song is it?
Daiki: It’s a song that really has a summer feel.
Inoo: It will be great if this song can become a fixed Summer song, not just for the Summer this year ne.
Takaki: It’s a song which holds a directly opposite colour (style) from Your Seed ne.
Hikaru: Rather than a coupling (song), it’s gap-uling? **
Yabu: That was an interesting sentence! But it’s not coupling. (laughs)
Hikaru: Sorry, both are A-side songs eh. (laughs)
———————————————————-
** a word pun on the word “gap”, referring to the stark contrast between Your Seed and Bouken Rider
Gekkan Songs - August 08 Issue (HSB Talk Part 2)
– Here is about “Your Seed”. Please tell us one by one, a hidden talent that is only known amongst the members, and which will bloom from now on!
Daiki: Although Inoo-chan seems like a super serious person at first sight, he can actually raise very interesting topics when he’s talking with us amongst the members. Yet somehow during the concerts, he’s silent…
Inoo: I don’t know why I can’t catch the timing to say something ne.
Hikaru: You are too nervous~
– So what about Yaotome-kun?
Daiki: He’s good at composing songs! He taught me that as well, and he is shrewd to plan a collaboration with me.
Yabu: He produces them on the computer ne?
Inoo: But when I am on the phone with him, he would suddenly start playing his guitar.
Takaki: Oi-oi, are you his girlfriend? (laughs)
Yabu: Arioka (Daiki) has a vast/rich knowledge of music!
Daiki: My older brother is into music, so I am influenced by him in many ways.
Hikaru: Takaki’s sexy voice passes through the mic, becomes pheromone, and melts in the fans’ ears.
(For those who don’t know what pheromone is, please do a search on wikipedia)
Takaki: Liar!
Hikaru: You possess that kind of aura.
Takaki: What kind of aura?
Yabu: The kind of aura in which after Takaki passes through a place, there would be rose petals falling and floating around.
Takaki: I don’t understand what it means. (laughs) Yabu-kun, yappari is good at singing right. From low pitch to high pitch, your wide vocal range makes me really envious.
Hikaru: (Yabu is) Good at drums too. Occasionally on the phone I can hear the sound of the drums…
Yabu: Did I do that!
Inoo: He’s suitable with a guitar ne.
Hikaru: Suitable with drums too.
Yabu: I know I know. Whether it’s hitting the drums or playing the castanet, please display the mature style. (laughs) It’s this kind of feeling that we are still very immature, and after experiencing many things, someday I want to be able to say with confidence that I have “this” in my hand ne.
– A skill that you especially wish to cultivate?
Inoo: Yappari I want to train my talking. (laughs) I am really bad at ad lib too. (ad lib: throwing in jokes on the spot that aren’t scripted)
Hikaru: I want to write a song; a cool dance number (dance track) that can be played at the opening of the concert.
Takaki: Well then, I will work hard to fill in lyrics for that song. Even though it’s just a little bit, I am writing song lyrics.
Daiki: For me it’s singing ne. Those advices that we receive from the staff, I want to absorb them like a sponge.
Yabu: I want to expand the width of music even more. I also want to prepare and aim for a live performance ne.
– SUMMARY that will start in August, what kind of show would it be?
Inoo: Even though this is Summary in which many of our senpai(s) have already succeeded in doing, I want to make this a Summary that will not do without us.
Daiki: When I just entered the Jimusho, I immediately got involved in the previous (Summary?) event as a junior, and I was really touched by the awesomeness of the performance. This time, because we have become the main characters in this, I can feel the importance of it and I want to show my best performance.
Hikaru: Surprising~ This Arioka! (in reaction to Daiki’s words)
Daiki: Eh!? What, what should I do?
Hikaru: Try thinking about it until the first day of Summary. (laughs)
Takaki: It will be good if Summary can become the best event this summer ne.
Yabu: And for next year, or even the year after next, let’s make this a stage which can keep continuing!
