Flat Iron Emergency
Posted 7/22/08 , edited 7/22/08
My Flat Iron broke!!!
And it's really hard for me to find a good Flat Iron for my kind of hair. The one that broke was fantastic. I had it for 4 years but it's an older Helen of Troy model that I can't find in any local salon supply stores anymore.

So I was wondering if anybody had a recommendation for me. Preferably something with high heat, under $80, no cheap brands like conair and revlon, and nothing with metal plates.

My hair naturally: (hard to straighten)
~ very thick
~ coarse
~ frizzy
~ curly/wavy

Maybe a Chi? I think you may be able to get one for under $80, but not sure. May be more around the 100+ mark.

If you had more of a budget, go for a GHD or something nice ^__^

Ill say this the Chi is worth EVERY penny! its makes my hair REALLY straight and I have curly hair! It lasts long.

sooo yea its expensive but in the end youll save cuz you wont have to keep buying other ones cuz they broke!
sooo yea chi all the way ive been straightening my hair for awhile and i would NEVER reccomend anything else besides the chi!

=]

oh and some tips for hair like yours.
to get it really straight you should part your hair and take it strand at a time. not only that but go over the same strand a few times the more you go over it you'll notice it getting flatter and less friz. my friends hair used to be the EXACT same till i taught her how to straighten it. oh and go over the strand slowly too always helps! =]

going over your hair with flat irons repeatedly damages your hair.ask a professional they will tell you the same, and use heat protection spray.i recomen TI GI s-factor,i use it on my hair and its great and mym mums friend also uses it and she is afro-carribean

A really good hot iron would be from Conair they have this hot iron that uses water which helps put moisture in your hair while you flat iron it.

Uhm....I have one from Phillips for my bangs It works very good & your hair looks shiny The price was €30,- euros I dunno if that's under 80 dollars~?

lmao, my straightener cost me 140$ in CA that's because my hair is hard to straighten. But 80? on your hair? .. i don't recommeend straightening it. haha, you can perm it .. it lasts up to 6 month and it's 150$ .. less hassle
