You can't really fail a grade... more like fail individual courses. You'd just take them over again in summer school or the next year around, or something.

Let's say you fail grade 9 math and pass everything else then you would take every subject at the grade 10 level cept for math you will be repeating that one since you failed.

Advicely you repeat the grade then, but I highly doubt it's possible for someone to fail every single subject.

It's probably better to not think of high school as grades and think more of it as individual credits--this'll be even more true in college, but anyway--your school, or the district you're in, has a certain number and combination of credits that it requires you have for graduation.

Generally, grade level is dilineated by the number of credits you've completed, so yes, technically, you'll be "held back".

they might not be required credits in your senior year, so if you just take the classes over, you should be good.
or summerschool some

Ok to put it simply failing the grade IF your aiming to be a dumbass or just dont care.
Well chances if you are a trouble maker you will go to summer school. If you were an A student you will get left back. Those who are pains are pushed by society succeed. In my school you have to fail 3 classess to get left back.

if you're failing three out of four classes, and those classes are required (such as math, science, english, etc) then you'll be held back even if you do summerschool (because you can't possibly make up all those courses in one summer.)
