We've heard a lot recently about the low rankings.. Your thoughts?

i'm so n00b at CR that i can't start one up myself TT____TT
so here's what I found from wikidrama:
1st ep. - 14.0%, 2nd ep. - 12.6 %, 3rd ep. - 09.2%
........
now I know that for a fact wikipedia can be changed by anyone so I'm guessing it's the same with wikidrama..
can anyone confirm that these stats are true?

I can't help but be sad at how low the ratings are it's such a darn GOOD DRAMA. T_T but I also heard that certain events have affected the ratings as well, for example, apparently there was a new Studio Ghibli movie that was released around the same time as the 1st episode of Maou, and as well the Olympic events and opening ceremonies are soon as well I think... so those could be just some of the reasons why the ratings are so low..?

and I guess also it's suspense.. not as much chick flick stuff in it? and if I must say, Ohno does look quite evil here (but sexy too haha).. so I guess it'd be hard for younger children to watch as well. I just really hope that the ratings go up so Ohno can star in more dramas! cuz honestly, he's able to star in more... his acting is sooo amazing :)

thanks so much again, NewLight for making this forum I just really wanted to share my thoughts on this issue... Ohno and Toma deserve so much better ratings than what they're getting right now X3

(and I'm sure if they included ratings of oversea fans.. it'd totally blow out all the other dramas' ratings right now haha :P)

Unfortunately I don't think the ratings will improve. Because it's one of those shows where every episode links together so if people don't get it, why watch it?
It's such a shame tho. The three leads are fantastic and it deserves more recognition. ^^

Awww...and I was thinking it was a pretty good drama too.
Maybe the genre affects the rating too like you said, since its pretty serious children might not watch it.
Just as long as toma and ohno are doing their best then it's okay~^_^
I hope the ratings get higher soon though...this drama definitely needs more attention.

i've seen that it airs at 22.00 and from what i know that is not exactly prime-time ,i mean for one that it's a night owl and has stamina it's ok, but most people prefer something light that can put them to sleep and if the plot is too complicated they lose interest or they fall asleep (it's not a good reason why the ratings are low but still it's a case that is quite common )

but isn't himitsu no arashi chan the same time but the day before? or do different weekdays have different prime times?

10pm is actually a primetime.drama that aired at 9 and 10 is primetime.but maybe this drama is at friday.so may be lots are going out.but they have school and works at saturday too.so that's probably not the reason.

i really hope the ranking will not keep dropping anymore.

Maybe. However i really can't see any good reason why people don't watch it.......they don't like it? i mean i would understand if this drama would have low ratings in europe(cuz they are not accustomed with jdrama,kdrama and so on)but ikuta toma is a loved actor and the drama is definitly not some cheap imitation .....................i know it's a thing about taste,though

Japan doesn't have schools on Saturdays anymore. Only sports practice and other extra-curricular activities. And that doesn't count for classes either.

The thing is, Mao is too thick for a serious nation like Japan, whose majority of the people want something light, to
brighten up their lonely evenings. A lot of Japanese people has a lot of wrath in them. And there are many who can relate to the characters of either Toma or Ohno. And if they see it reflected from the television, they wouldn't want to see it. Get my drift?

Maou was heavily promoted with interviews, appearances, magazine interviews, photoshoots.
Also, it's summer vacation and it airs at 11pm on Fridays. So, why don't people watch it?

Like RyanCodeslt said, the content could be too heavy for most to handle.
And, most of the time, dramas such as Hana Yori Dango or Gokusen are much more popular because they appeal to teenagers and families.

Some of my friends don't get Maou and I think some teenagers in Japan won't either.
That's too bad because I really enjoy the series. C:

reeeeeeeally.....!!!!?!?!? i absolutely LOVE this drama!!!!!! I seriously hope that the ratings could improve! i love it and i think it's a great drama.......!!!!!!!!

i thought that this was the most awaited drama, well thats what someone told me, but of course its awaited! OHNO IS IN IT, but hopefully ratings improve, its such a dark drama:P one of the first of those ive watched, and ohno is such a freakin good actor

yeaahh ratings need to go UPP! duddee such a waste of a good drama

hmm... Maybe japanese ppl. cant handle all the violence! or you can always blame the production team, well at least the ppl. in charge of promoting the series, i mean if it has low ratings then its becuz some ppl didnt advretise the series right!

a friend of mine told me that a show in another channel being aired the same time as maou is the reason why its ratings have surprisingly decreased... i'm not really sure about this since i was just told by my friend..

but wtheck, it's just ratings.. instead, let's put our fingers crossed that ohno-san wins an award for his amazing and overly great acting skills in this drama!!!
