Wow. It seems really sad that these ratings are so low.
xD I actually haven't watched any of it. I'm waiting till it all comes out. But...I like the deep plots and action that you guys are mentioning so I think I will like it.
I can't wait to watch it all. =]

I just really wanna go to Japan and scream to the people to watch Maou because it is sooo GOOOD!!!! Not just because Ikuta and Ohno is in it (who are super sexy <3) but the story is so different and in a way, refreshing. Now I'm a girl who loves the who lovey dovey high school story kind of drama (thank you Hana Yori Dango XDD) but this one is definitely gonna be one of my faves because:

1: The main actors are super hot
2: The plot is so good (and it's pretty fast so it doesn't take long to build up to suspense)
3: The actors are really good
4: Great theme song XD
5: Duh, Ohno and Ikuta. How can you go wrong?!?!?

If only they would count the ratings of peopl who watch it online...that would make the ratings super high.

PEOPLE IN JAPAN:

WATCH MAOU!!!

please?

I agree with the other folks that the story in Maou is very serious and probably doesn't appeal to as many people in Japan. There are no comedic scenes that would lighten the story.

Personally, I think the show is simply amazing! Ohno and Toma's acting have been really good and they're showing that they can handle serious roles very well.

What struck me, though, when I first watched the show is that it doesn't feel like a Japanese show. The style is more like what I would expect from an American show.

xD I just wouldn't want to start it and be so caught up and then not be able to see another episode for a while.
That would bug me. I'd constantly be thinking about it. "I wonder what happens next D:"
That sort of thing..

However. I can't force myself to keep off the forum [but I am avoiding the posts that talk about the episodes]

I hope ratings go up though. It sounds like a good show. n_n

Lots of people in this world have mush for brains..this drama is complicated and filled with delicious twists which some dumbasses can't appreciate because their cranium's are too thick to appreciate the intelligence of Maou...This IS an intelligent drama not some simple-plotted cliched romance stuff ..some people prefer comedies because they're easy to understand..Now for emo-ish people like me who love tragedies and dark stuff, this drama is perfect..the actors are good, the twists are enough to keep me from being bored...Not to mention OHNO-KUN!!!!=)

Well, I am really worried because the ratings were getting lower for the 2nd and 3rd episode. It went a little up on the 4th episode at 10.1% As for the 5th episode tonight, I hope it gets a little higher...I am crossing my fingers that the scandal won't affect the rating.

lol if anything i would have thought the opposite.. like it would be getting higher ratings cuz of all the attention ohno's been getting.. and maybe people wanna see if he looks high when he acts... .T______T. it's so stupid how some people might watch the drama after some bad scandal comes out... it's such a good drama dang what a waste to japan.... dude bring this drama to north america or something! xD

I was thinking on the same line too, but knowing how the fans/japanese watchers react it would be something.:) I agree this drama is sooo good.

i love this drama! It is sad that it as lower ratings but it does depend on the genre and as previous people have said the drama is to deep for alot of people that would rather watch light fluff. Oh well in my opinion The leads are great and who doesn't love a serious and smoking hot Toma.

Are you ready for Episode 5 Rating

.......

.................

........................

.................................. 10.9%

Went high by 0.8%, which is good. The whole scandal didn't affect the show's rating..:) So, it's all good. Yay! to all the fans.

Bring in the torches and the pitchforks because I know people would probably hate me for what I'm about to say.

First of all, I've read all your comments and it sounds to me that you guys are blaming the low ratings of this show to the viewers in Japan. Most of you are saying that the Japanese people probably don't like Maou because it's too intense and heavy and is too much for their brains to handle. It's true that light-hearted comedic shows like Hana Yori Dango and Gokusen had high ratings in Japan but so did Galileo and Unfair, which are both mystery/suspense dramas with intense and violent themes. Galileo had an average of 22.0 rating and Unfair had 15.39. Japanese people love intelligent suspense dramas too you know! There were lots of dramas in the past with themes like Maou that had really high ratings in Japan.

I think the ratings of Maou are quite low because it's not as good as the previews dramas in the same genre. I know most of you who watch it online says it's really good and I agree. It's a pretty good drama but compared to the other suspense dramas aired in the past, Maou is still quite mediocre. I am Japanese and I just hate hearing people say the we don't watch Maou because we can't handle complicated dramas. Uhm, who created Maou again? The Japanese right? So I think, if the creators of this drama have enough brains to create an intelligent show then the Japanese viewers would probably have enough brains to watch and understand it. You may think Maou is the greatest show ever but for us it's still not good enough compared to the shows in the past.

Of course, this could also be just a matter of preference. The first time I watched Maou, I wasn't crazy about it and I thought I probably just have different taste from the rest of you guys here in crunchyroll. But when I heard about the low ratings, I realized that I'm not the only one who didn't like it that much. I guess, we Japanese people have seen lots of dramas like Maou in the past and they were way better so we just decided not to watch this one. You can compare this to eating. For example, it's your first time eating a hamburger. When you tasted it, you thought it's the most delicious thing you've ever tasted. Then you find out that very few people liked that hamburger. And you realized that even though that hamburger is delicious other people don't like eating it because they've tasted better hamburgers before, so that hamburger you loved is just mediocre for them.

Sorry for the bad analogy, but I hope you got my point. Anyway, I'm glad you like watching Japanese dramas, but please don't say bad things about us just because we didn't like the dramas you like.
