I don't hate the ending...I wish to see more though...and it feels like Geom's point of becoming Iljimae wasn't given justice...he wants to kill his father's murderer but he didn't instead he told him to promise to step out of the throne...and Shi hoo didn't reveal it either because he said he wanted to protect what his little brother wants to protect...so seriously, what's Iljimae's point?! but I like the ending, it's one of those will Iljimae and Eun chae meet? Will he be able to to take revenge because the king didn't keep his promise? only imagination would allow us to know...and he did turn up on the end

yeah the ending was really open ... open for the opportunity that there might be an ILJIMAE SEQUEL ... at least that's what I'm hoping for ... well maybe just few episodes just t0 close things up etc. like what LJKanimes said: will iljimae and eun chae meet... the revenge and more hehehe the ending was owkay for me ... or good. as long as iljimae was alive ^_^

Argggh any ending would have been fine if Iljimae had not died!! Yea, all was good til that moment. I posted my views on the other forum, hope someone shares the same views with me.

Waaait, actually I think the producers very much made it 85% certain that Iljimae died, but they missed out sth. The blind fortune teller foretold the rise of a potential king. If that king is Iljimae, that means he is not dead! (But most likely he won't want to be king either.)

Eh, but all along he did not say he wanted to kill him! He said he just wanted to find out the truth. And all he said for the time when he find out who is the murderer is that he wanted him to kneel and ask for forgiveness from his dead father.

Hmmm didn't the king keep his promise in the end? I mean, when Shi Hoo said he wanted to protect what Young wanted to protect, he was using that letter as a threat to the king to perform well. So with Shi Hoo keeping him in check, wouldn't everything be fine? Anyway he's already looney, don't think he will do unscrupulous matters again.

He said he wanted to take revenge...when he was about to kill the king, he didn't because I don't know why he didn't...and Iljimae said that he won't kill him as long as he promised that he would step out of the throne but if he won't he would go on with his revenge. Iljimae said that he can't be a father or what kind of father is he, he killed his own son and his own little brother, that's why Iljimae wanted him to step out of the throne...the king thought he's already dead that's why he didn't...and that's why at the end Iljimae turned up...

the ending is one of those endings that you can't really hate, but frustrates you nonetheless...
i mean...cmon! theres so much left unanswered... like where was he for four years?? did him and his mother make up? why didn't the king continue his cruelty and capture geom and his family since he already NOES who he is and all?? and if he lived, why didnt he meet up with bong soon?? she was waiting for him, wasnt she? and..sigh
the way iljimae stole things was kinda unrealistic, isnt it??

but still... you gotta love iljimae.

it ends well.
they deliberately kept the ending open for a possible sequel.
since it was a big hit... it left us anxious and longing for more.....
i like the way they they presented bad people remorse d.. for their wrong doings.. ended up doing good deeds..
what is important is that ILJIMAE is alive!!! and for sure we will see him again soon

Omg I think you are right! That's why the other people didn't seem sad when they were talking about the dead Iljimae when they know Iljimae is Young. And that explains the adventure showed at the beginning of the drama. But Bong Soo looks grieved. Maybe Young didn't appear in front of her again?

But I'm really sure that he did not say he wanted revenge. He said he only wanted to know the truth, revenge is not included because he did not wnat to kill. The reason why he wanted to kill the king then because anyone's decision will waver when the culprit appears in front of you + he deserved to die. But in the end he heeded his father's teaching and did not kill the king.

The only time he mentioned revenge was for his sister, when he had defeated Shi Hoo.

Bong Soon was like maimed or something right? From the jump?
Actually, he did say he wanted revenge. He said 'abujiehmokseomil boksoo halguya' [I don't know if I wrote the romanji right] which means 'I will avenge my father's death' in Korean. -_-;;
The reason he didn't kill the king was because of his birth father's teachings [I hope that if you ever have to hold a sword, it'll be a sword of justice], and the monk dude [I give you this blunt sword so that you won't kill anyone].
Well those quotes aren't like...actual quotes, but that's what I remember them saying.
Iljimae's not even dead. Yay!
But I kind of wanted the series to end with Geom sitting on the throne!
And I think just because that blind prophet said that there is a sun threatening the throne doesn't necessarily mean that the sun is going to overthrow the king. It just means that he's a threat. Which he is, because he tells the king to step down or he's gonna kill him. O_o
