In our school paper, there was a poem about someone cutting him/herself. That's just gross. Such things don't belong in a school paper. There's absolutely no beauty in it.

So, poems that are 'emo' (and with that I mean poems about self-harm etc) shouldn't be in school papers. It might trigger people into doing that crap too.

Just keep such poems for yourself, or for other people to read if you really want that.

If we knew what you actually wrote, then we can have a discussion on it. Other than that, we are basing on what YOU thought was wrong.

emo is fashionable nowadays... capitalism finally got hold on the teen angst market... come to think about it there was no such term as emo during my highschool years... we were called creepy ass wallflowers who magically blend into the background... the wierd kid who drinks a lot and writes in his little notebook and plays with sharp objects...

just bonafide kids like me who love to question the thing called existence coz' reality in itself is relative and go to quarterly sessions with the shrink and takes anti-depressants every other day just to feel happy... well not really... I fancied myself as a teenage edgar allan poe back then... wahahaha shit...

so i just took the damn pills and told the doc they're working...

anyway about what you said that "that is who you are" simply means "that is what you currently" you'll eventually grow out of it and find laughter and amusement everytime you open your poem book...

edit to above: I agree with you... She should post her poems for discussion...

Being a parent with 2 teens, I can say that I somewhat understand the "emo" state.
Not that there's anything wrong with being that way, it's just that some folks aren't aware. Personally, with me, I guess I'm just more open minded than most folks my age. Therefore, my teens are comfortable in discussing any "emo" issues that can & will arise at this point in their lives. Hell, I somewhat wish my parents were like me, but they were more old fashioned in a sense.I just took what I deemed was right by the way they raised me & slightly modified it along the way when it was my turn to be the parent. I lear a lot from my kids, and hopefully they learn from me as well....in my case, with age came wisdom....

I'm fond of creating poems......
and 2 of my poems were chosen by
my English teacher
to be published for the school paper

when my teacher submitted it
to the vice principle....
she didn't accept it....
because.....
it was EMO!

she thinks that EMO
songs, looks,poems,and other
stuff thats EMO
makes people commit suicide

isn't it unfair?
she can't order me to create
happy poems when i'm feeling
depressed and stuff.
and poems are emotion based
so poems are not easy to write.

it is very discriminating
just because my poems are
written EMO-ly
it doesn't mean I'm suicidal.
its just based on what i'm feeling.

I write depression poems and there not EMO...i dont think they r???? anyway whatever.

Ok that is discrimination, the teachers in your school suck and should see what people are actually feeling.
