To me, what's important is the plot itself.

"Ecchi" as a genre is a show that revolves around fanservice. As far as I know, the distinction isn't definite, but if I was asked what would qualify as ecchi, I would say this show, Rosario to Vampire, and Amaenaideyo, among others would be excellent examples. I would distinguish between these and a show that merely has fanservice, such as Neon Genesis Evangelion - which has a lot of fanservice in its own right, but not quite in the same way as these shows do.

Nonetheless, if this show wasn't ecchi, I would still watch it. I think it would be a very different show, though. I mean, if there was no fanservice then a lot of this show would really change.
But I'm sure I'd still be watching it, assuming the characters' personalities were still the same and it was still based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and, of course, if it was still basically an anime about a bunch of cute high school girls beating each other up with cool martial arts moves. After all, if I wasn't into that sort of thing, I probably wouldn't watching anime, right?

Sometimes I wish that they wouldn't focus on the ecchi as much. I think that the action and the story have a lot to offer, but sometimes when the put the "Fan Service" in the middle of an intense fight scene or dramatic situation it pulls me out of the story.

If I was doing it the ecchi would be in the comic relief and in between scenes.

. . . What plot? There is no real plot to speak of. To quote anonymous, "Ikkitousen is the glorified T&A."

i think it's perfect the way it is
