first of all, i want to ask something..
you are korean and you made this thread..isn't that kinda offending to your, umm, "fellowmen"?
but i don't really care about that..well, to answer your question : anyone, not just koreans,
who undergo plastic surgery may be fake outside but is that enough to also judge that they're fake inside?
this is a globalizing, technology-advancing world and to keep up with that pace, people start to do or to undergo a more drastic and faster way to achieve things. being prettier and more perfect that you once had been is a perfect example of that. according to my observation, there are three kinds of people who hate and criticize plastic surgery:

1. people who CANNOT afford it

2. people who don't want to undergo plastic surgery because they don't want to be branded as "fake," hence they "secretly" envied people who did undergo and received astonishing, remarkable results

3. people who are just afraid to experience pain

your information that korea (south) is the no.1 country practicing this surgery is true. but isn't it that they are also the richest as of today?--the reason behind that is because korea takes risks and undergo changes to adapt to this modernizing world. and for that, i praise korea. i just wish my country would do the same.

Why would he be offending his "fellowmen". He's just asking why are korean so fake. I dont find anything offensif in that.
I dont need surgery, I feel good about myself.

I actually wrote an essay about this...
I don't think it's wrong to get plastic surgery to look better, because it's the same as putting on make-up and wearing prettier clothes... there's nothing wrong with wanting to look better.

I think what's even worse is people judging those celebrities based on their looks instead of their acting abilities. Have you notice that on Crunchyroll, there are more posts about who looks better than who is a better actor or is a better person? It's not their fault, it's society's fault.

Therefore, I wouldn't criticize an actor/actress because they got surgery...for all we know, their managers made them because the public wants it. But I wouldn't like an actor/actress for their looks, because it isn't something that they had control over...

And also, natural beauties aren't any better or worse than plastic ones. Having good genes and good make-up artists isn't a merit of the celebrity.

Umm, first I think plastic surgery is a major fad in Korea right now, i mean even men do it (there are special centers for men). Its really popular so I guess its kind of the thing to do right now. Also the eye-lid surgery is done by a lot of people for medical reasons (eyelashes get in your eyes causing bad eye sight). My aunt got surgery because her eyesight was going bad due to the eyelashes. Hmm thats all I got to say for now

I think that we are strongly inspired by the people we see on TV, in movies, and in magazines to achieve a sense of beauty that is beyond natural. I know that the influence of the media is a traditional "cop-out," but at the same time, people on TV are indeed VERY good looking.

Ultimately? I'd say plastic surgery is just the result of vanity. Sorry, folks!

I do need to qualify this, however. My sister had "plastic surgery" when she broke her nose... I don't think it counts because it was just repair. Also, it's a very good point about eyelid problems... is it plastic surgery if it's medical necessity?

I have to say, though, that I consider many Korean actresses who have had plastic surgery to be very beautiful. Whether or not this makes them "fake," I can't judge because I don't know their personalities. In a way I feel sorry that they don't feel good enough "as-is."

wow i was just reading some articles about asians wanting double eyelids. i know a lot of people wants double eyelid because they think that your going to look more "prettier" or something. im a single eyelid person and i dont see what's wrong with that. i find actors/actress more appealing when they have single eyelids. *ahem* lee jun ki *ahem* haha

and as of korean girls getting plastic surgery and being all fake....well its their choice if they want something change and undergo a knife to make themselves look pretty. yea like what people say its media corruption. pressure from people. its a trend. its cool oh hey why not do it too? its people's choice. and yes we shouldn't criticize people whether they're celebrities or not. just let them be and mind your own business. haha.

but wow i was actually surprised someone started this thread about korean people. very ironic too is that the person is korean >_>.

thats all i have to saaay =)

can i ask you do you know every possible korean there are ?

almost every korean there are in korea at least half of them want to be famous.
they can be who they want to be. who are you to judge them? there must be at some point in life where you'll be like you think she's pretty.
americans have tons of surgery even most people died like kanye west's mother.

i dont know who you have around your life,
maybe your family (if you are korean they must be korean), who seems to be FAKE inside and out
because the koreans around my life are REAL inside and out

and i dont know how you were raised but
it is SAD how you degrade your own nationality
and i am doubting that you are korean..

plastic surgery is not a simple process where you go in some building and come out beautiful,
it takes time to think and decide if you really want to go under the knife
there's only one life you are living, why not use the money and the technology we have available
to live our lives to the fullest.
it's not their fault they want to be beautiful,
it is the society
