Except for comedies, I get my anime need from the manga. I rarely watch anime. Like, what happens is that I read the manga version first then try to see if the anime does a good job (which sadly most of the time doesnt.) Very few titles I watch both anime and manga. What about you guys.

Manga strictly (tried to watch anime but was turned off)
Naruto
D.Gray-man
One piece
Busou Renkin
Vampire Knight

and so many others...

Hm, maybe I'm a strict manga reader. I only watch the anime when there's very obvious changes in the plots and I have this tendency of picking titles that are exclusively manga only.

I'm a strict manga reader in a different way.

I collect manga, I don't read it on the internet.
I put them in a bookshelf and a special box.
I don't lend my manga to anyone except to the most trusted one's.
And even though I watched the anime, I get the manga coz sometimes the manga are better.
I watch the anime even though I have the manga coz I just want to see how the voices, stories and actions go.
Like Genshiken. There are some add on stories that are hilarious.

So yah, I'm a strict one in my own way.

I'll have to agree been myself as a strict manga reader.

I read manga based on the following categories only

-Comedy
-Ecchi
-Fantasy
-Super natural
-Slice of life

Also to point it out further. Even though most animes may fall to the above, i have still a series of expectations for it before i'm convinced to read it.

Here are the main few...

1) Good artwork
2) Solid storyline

Animes... i mean mangas that have reached my expectations.

Negima ( Mahou Sensei Negima)

Toradora

Ga Rei

Love Hina

And many(numerous) more....

I'm strict in both spectrums, but I'm always looking for something good! The question is whether or not I will like it. If that er... makes sense.

I can't read both the manga and the anime, unless the two are very different. It's mostly because I am really ADD and I can't bare to read/watch the same story twice. So, things like Descendants of Darkness or Black Cat where the anime makes a very different spin on the manga, I'll watch it. (especially if it has a different ending)

As for whether I like anime or manga better, I definitely like manga better, but there are plenty of anime that doesn't have a manga, so manga isn't always an option. Plus, manga can really drag things out, and anime tends to be better planned out and ends in a more reasonable fashion. *nods* Both have their good and bad points.

Idk i usually read manga + the ones ahead of certain anime. I usually only watch anime if there is no manga for it like.. Code Geass(ownage) Zero no Tsukaima, and Shakugan no shana bla bla bla.. Yeah I know they have mangas but they are shit.

Air Gear
Bleach
Kenshin
Fullmetal Alchemist
Cowboy Bebop
Buso Renkin
Hellsing
Trigun

I am almost always read the manga first/only. Due to the fact that the shows such as bleach or naruto do not move fast enough for me to keep up with. I fall asleep through the 40 hrs of talking. So I rather read through it and see the sequences
play out in my mind. Most animes for me, like you said for yourself, are a turn off.

as you can see most of the ones I read are already finished ^_^;; so I have no real suggestions towards ongoing manga

It matters. Most of the time I just find a manga then wait until an anime comes out....but if the anime sucks, I then I just stick to the manga. It matters.

well for me, I love reading. I have no many mangas its sick. but anyways if I like the book enough, I want to see it in whatever form it comes out in. like hana yori dango. read the manga, seen the anime and both live action versions. not that it needs to be said but the anime verison was awful...but anyways my interest always start as the manga and then goes on from there.
