I'm a strict manga reader in a different way.

I collect manga, I don't read it on the internet.
I put them in a bookshelf and a special box.
I don't lend my manga to anyone except to the most trusted one's.
And even though I watched the anime, I get the manga coz sometimes the manga are better.
I watch the anime even though I have the manga coz I just want to see how the voices, stories and actions go.
Like Genshiken. There are some add on stories that are hilarious.

So yah, I'm a strict one in my own way.

for me, its just hilarious. great but not great. the anime and manga are a little bitthe same... but i guess people have different perception on what is great anime.

It's good to read the manga first then watch the anime for a comparison.

Plus, manga can really drag things out, and anime tends to be better planned out and ends in a more reasonable fashion. *nods* Both have their good and bad points.

I'm feel the exact opposite. I feel that anime either 1) abruptly stops or 2) drag things out with "filler" episodes. In manga, at least it's arc after arc, but in anime, you'd get those recap episodes or just literally, time wasters. Classic fillers, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z. They (Dragon Ball Z) can throw insults at each other for the first half and then power up for the remaining of the episode. In manga, that probably lasts two panes. You could even just glance over it and get the point.

I'm not exactly strict, but I find that manga is both more easily accessible and faster to me. I tend to skim more than watch, so anime's somewhat useless to me. However, I will usually go for the manga unless either the art is utter crap or the plot is utter crap (like those crapilicious Code Geass mangas).

Im Totaly Like That :)
i like to have the books...
they feel special and you can just put yourself into the story....
but when it comes to anime i just want to see how they made the people like....
as in voices and whatnot

manga is better..because all anime shows were manga at first..
and anime shows won't get publicity if it did not become a manga

Except for comedies, I get my anime need from the manga. I rarely watch anime. Like, what happens is that I read the manga version first then try to see if the anime does a good job (which sadly most of the time doesnt.) Very few titles I watch both anime and manga. What about you guys.

Manga strictly (tried to watch anime but was turned off)
Naruto
D.Gray-man
One piece
Busou Renkin
Vampire Knight

and so many others...

considering your age and the anime you mentioned that turned you off i think you outgrew the category they were aiming for.
