well anyway i was looking for when the next air gear manga came out and i found some weird stuff about gas powered skates almost an airtrek more or less. they only go about 20mph or so and have no brakes. interesting enough some guy in Bournemouth,England trys to buys some from china and china ships them out and the police take all 50 pairs the dude bought and are testing to see if they are safe or not ... weird....

http://www.rollerskatingmuseum.com/sotm/2007_08/sotm.htm<---this one is funny but its the closest thing to matching AT speed
http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2007/07/gas-powered-ska.html
http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2007/08/double-jeopardy.html<----these are worse than the chinese skates (though they do have brakes) they will probably kill you but just so you know it tells you how to make them at the bottom of the page (don't die out there)
instead of making new threads i keep putting new links so yeah...

that looks cool, but the whole idea of using skates to exercise is thrown out the window.

I was actually talking to an engineer friend of mine about if actualizing AT's is possible, he told me that currently the battery technology is possible but the micro engine is not, however the frame for a 2 wheel aggressive type skate would be easy to make...which makes me wonder who nobody has started making them yet...I've done searches on tons of skate accessory and frame sites and have come up with nothing....~sigh~ hopefully somebody in the skate industry sees that this is the future and starts designing new frames, then when the technology for the motor becomes available they can market it easily.

Hmmmm..actually if you threw a wide enough will on those it would be the general AT idea ,just without the perks of one. I may actually have to buy a pair and modify them

Or to go really really fast without being in a vehicle.

That motorized skateboard thing looks fun. The skates look pretty dull. The videos they show they are going about 1/10 of what I could be going using my own energy. What the hell is the point in having something motorized/gas powered without the speed unattainable by natural means?

The concept of ATs are pretty cool except that everything in that show is nearly impossible except going in a straight line quickly.

I don't see the frames being a big issue honestly. You could just redesign the current plastic ones and use them with a durable metal for the outside frame and then have parts of the insides aluminum or plastic to make it weigh a bit less. After that the wheels would have to be redone also since plastic can't really go on fast on the roads and whatnot.

Side note: If Bill Gates wanted something like this, it would be done in a year or less.

I call for a petition to Bill Gates...he can help crazy people who want to fly through the streets on motorized skates and make billions more in the process...win win.
