This idea popped into my head and i decided to make it into a post. So we know that America bought Alaska from Russia way back when, for $7 million dollars, which in todays world would be a whole lot more. I'm just saying, what if Russia had never sold it. I'm wondering how it might have affected recent history (by which i mean the cold war - present) I'm just throwing this out there but,

What do u think might have happened?

7 MILLIONS DOLLARS!!!! WOAH!!! WAT A DEAL!!!!
anyways..

It would affect America today.
Alaska is one America's Main Oil Supplier,
At alaska they dont need to pay tax cause they have an abundant amount of money,
I Dont Know About Now Though....
unlike here in canada all they money is shared equally
though alberta used to be a province with the lesser amount of money
as we have now cause alberta is now the province that makes most of the money.

Right now, as you know thiers a huge/high demand for oil.
People say the war started out of oil not because of "Weapons of Mass Destruction"
In the end the Americans didnt find any,
but they exacuted Osama Bin Laden,
Because he killed Sunni's and other middle eastern groups
So maybe if they didnt have alaska,
The war would have to be more brutal by now... <--- Horrible Grammer :sweatingbullets:

As for the war, it might trun out as Vietnamese war,
America Lost,
I believe America is just repeating itself,
Just like history repeats it self....
thats why historys important,
so we wont make the same mistakes over and over again....
i dont know why but i feel that way,

I watched a Documentary about it in grade 8
and in conclusion i think America will lose,
Due to the evidence above me...
And the war is bad!!! - just saying.......

Keep in mind 7 million is without adjusting for inflation and other factors
Osama is a Sunni (unfortunately) btw.

We only lost in Vietnam because protestors begged the government to leave before they were finished... much like what they are doing with Iraq. We only lost because we left too soon. And we left too soon because our soft liberal population was having a conniption fit.

$7 million back then still wasn't too terribly much, Alaska was cheap because a lot of the land bought was frozen tundra and useless.

We weren't exactly dominating in the battlefield.

Actually, the biggest threat for the Norh was when the South actually went ahead with reforms. If the US had put pressure on the South to make reforms much earlier, US might have won (well, let's face it: it would have been them winning).

Alaska would have been taken anyway, perhaps declared independence with the help of the US like Texas, or at least during the russian civil war 1917-22. Would the US accept a communist Alaska, when it would have been easy to occupy with communists being too concerned with the war in main russia? I don't think so. The Monroe doctrine, the Lousiana purcahse, the spanish-american war, the war against mexico, the war against the British (1812), would Alaska really have been left alone? Would they have wanted to? Texas was not the only place people declared independence for a better future, California did too. Alaska might have done it.
