I'm probably biased because ISWAK was the first drama I ever watched and I absolutely fell in love with it =]
I also saw it before the anime... but all things considered, although I really do like the anime, the drama is better. It has more time to really fully develop the story. Also with actors you can capture the emotions and really get attached to the characters more. I think joe cheng (naoki/zhi shu) and ariel lin (kotoko/xiang qin) did a really good job with their characters! Joe Cheng brought a lot more depth to Irie-kun and Ariel really did a lot to dumb herself down and it was very very cute the way they interacted. I personally like the end of the second series, left a lot open but also left you confident that all would be well |

Definitely the Taiwanese version. The slow build up got me deeply attached to these characters and made me more anxious about their futures. I really wanted to see all of them receive their happy endings, the supporting characters included. I like the fact that the writer in the second season took her time developing the characters in Xiang Qin/Kotoko's circle and gave them their own storylines. I always see friendship portrayed as one-sided in dramas, but I'm glad in TKA the writer allowed Xiang Qin to play the supportive friend at times. In the Taiwanese version I felt that each character WAS important and each of them got their moment to shine.
I do like the anime, but I felt that the pacing was too fast. Everything was a little too smooth. |

(BTW, loved that scene in your avi. )The first time I watched the anime I didn't care for it that much. Then I ran into a bunch of people who loved it months later so I decided to watch it again. I liked it but still hated some aspects of it. I thought he was so mean to Kotoko. Since I'd been getting into the dramas lately, I decided to watch It Started With a Kiss. OMG! I loved it! The slow pace made me care about the characters. I also understood more where he was coming from and he didn't seem as mean. The T-drama writers get 2 thumbs up from me. |
