Recently I did an essay on how music effects how people act, and or how it affects daily lives. Mainly I focused on the negative effects of rap. How it promotes improper grammer and language. Its pretty much a repetition of "Sex, Drugs, Money" with the occasion verb and words "the" "and" "do" "it". I'll give it to you rap lovers, there is some with meaning. 2-pac, Eminem. They sing with meaning. However who really remembers rap once its "outdated". How many rappers fell into nothingness once their song(s) fell off the top 10 list? Music like Rock and Country stick. They are remembered through the ages. Everyone knows the Beatles, the Eagles and so on, but who remembers Lil "Fill in the blank" or hell who even listens to rap from 10 years ago? I know rap is a recent thing compared to other forms of music, but thats no excuse for its blatant vulgarity and desecration of, well humanity.

and who the hell thought that this is something that would be "cool". It's De-Evolution for christs sake. Why did we work so hard to become intelligent, and form a sophisticated language just to ruin it with so-called music like rap. I know theres plenty of other forms of music that destroys the english language, but thats only cause you cannot understand it (grunge, heavy heavy thrasher and so on). So whats your thoughts?

I decided to take a random song, happened to be lil wayne, and show the lyrics
titled "Fuck you" (yeah really... Picked it at random)
Lil Wayne]
Who that, Weezy Bitch
Like Sigel, you fuckin with the young don, people
Plus I'm tryna make a son, he gon' be the sequel
Muh'fuckas better be peaceful, fo' sheezle
I get sums in lumps, like measles
My dough sick, on occations I catch seizures
I treat beef like burgers, just cheese you
And for that cheedar, hungry niggaz'll eat you
We breeze through in the twelve with the judo eyes
Bitches yell I wanna do those guys
Ain't that cold, you know shit fucked up when you got banked at fo'
I'm 19 and I got banked at O
That's the Bentley ma, that ain't that Rolls
But the price on that muthafucka ain't that low
Guaranteed that I'll bang that fo'
If your fuckin with the dude
Big shout from Cash Money Records, Fuck You

> [Chorus x8]
Fuck you, fuck you nigga, muthafuck you

[Mannie Fresh]
Chains, nines, guns that's us
The slogan is "we will bust"
The rules our this our size
Cross it young nigga and you will die
Pumps, ride guns, even 25's
Cash Money got this, don't even try it
Stay where you from, don't bring no static
If not, then semi-automatic
This is the payback, pussy bitch stay back
Fuck you, yo' mama, yo' daddy and where you lay at
What's beef, beef is when you fuck with us
Guaranteed to lay yo' ass up under the bus
There's no one quicker, than a hot boy nigga
That'll get you with the knife, or pow with the trigger
There's no one keaner, with the chrome Sarafina
Murder ain't nuttin' but a misdemeanor

[Chorus x4]

[these lyrics are found on http://www.songlyrics.com]
[Baby]
Fo' sho' nigga
I'm gon' ride 'round my city and stunt my shit
If a nigga don't like it they can suck my dick
I got a Bentley, Jag, Rolls, Ferrari
Lambo' with no top I'm gon' ride tomorrow
Fuck a cutless, regals, and rams V-12
Gotta have somethin fast just to get out them jams
Got a big ass crib with a flow lil fuck
Got a roof all glass and that bitch split up
Got a house built look like a Mercedes booth
Ferrari sofa set with the Lambo' wrench room
Leskitted up kitchen set and Rolls Royce wall
Jaguar floors and fuck all yall
BMW lights, projectors to watch fights
Caddilac Benz, white fox for threads
Chin cheddar for Chi tower, ain't that crazy
I don't give a fuck homie, that's how I play it
Refridge designed like a Lexus with legs
In the fridge, it's quarters to replace the eggs
From me, Fresh, and Weezy fuck what they say
I'm Cash Money stunna nigga and that's how I play it

[Chorus x8]

WTF is that? heres a random song, by the Linkin Park.
Happened to be "Hands Held High" (Very meaningful song)

Turn my mic up louder,
I got to say somethin.
Lightweights steppin' aside,
when we comin.
Feel it in your chest,
the syllables get pumpin.
People on the street,
they panic and start running.
Words on loose leaf,
sheet complete coming.
I jump on my mind,
I summon the rhyme of dumping.
Feeling the blind,
I promise to let the sun in.
Sick of the dark ways,
we march to the drumming.
Jump when they tell us
they want to see jumping.
Fuck that, I want to
see some fist pumping.
Risk something.
Take back what's yours
Say something that you know
they might attack you for
cause I'm sick of being treated
like I have before.
Like it;s stupid standing for
what I'm standing for.
Like this war is really just
a different brand of war.
Like it doesn't cater to the rich
and an abandoned the poor.
Like they understand you
in the back of the jet,
When you can't put gas in your tank.

> These fuckers are laughing their way
to the bank and cashing their cheque
asking you to have compassion and to have some respect.

For a leader so nervous
in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling
for nightly news to replay
and the rest of the world
watching at the end of the day
in the living room laughing
like what did he say?

Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen

In my living room watching,
But I am not laughing.
'Cause when it gets tense,
I know what might happen.
The world is cold,
The bold men take action.
Have to react,
To getting blown into fractions.
10 years old is something to see,
Another kid my age drugged under a G,
Taken and bound and found later under a tree,
I wonder if he thought the next one could be me.
Do you see?
The soldiers that are out today.
That brush the dust with bulletproof vests away.
It's ironic.
At times like this you pray,
But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday.
There's bombs in the buses, bikes, roads,
inside your markets, your shops, your clothes,
My dad, he's got a lot of fear I know
but enough pride inside not to let that show.
My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine.
[these lyrics are found on http://www.songlyrics.com]
In the back he hand wrote a quote inside,
when the rich wage war, it's the poor who die.

Meanwhile, the leader just talks away
Stuttering and mumbling
for nightly news to replay
and the rest of the world
watching at the end of the day
both scared and angry
like what did he say?

Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen.

With Hands Held High
into a sky so blue
the ocean opens up
to swallow you.

With Hands Held High
into a sky so blue
the ocean opens up
to swallow you.

With Hands Held High
into a sky so blue
the ocean opens up
to swallow you.

With Hands Held High
into a sky so blue
the ocean opens up
to swallow you.

With Hands Held High
into a sky so blue
the ocean opens up
to swallow you.

With Hands Held High
into a sky so blue
the ocean opens up
to swallow you.

Well I figured I would get less "rap sucks!" posts in here.

Well technically speaking rap is in fact "music" despite how vulgar it is. But i'm not really fond of this day's in age rap music. I personally listen to the rap with meaning like: 2-pac, Biggie, Jay-z

Well in a technical sense music is defined as an artistic form of auditory communication incorporating instrumental or vocal tones in a structured and continuous manner, So basically anything can be defined as music if its well thought out. Rap today is about getting "Famous" so they can become rich and get money before they fade out in a month. For instance, Ice-T Called out souja boy for basically making crap music (Superman or w/e its called) and basically calling him a young kid who is an idiot and doesn't know anything about rap. Then because everyone loves Souja Boy right now they were like WTF, but this was comming from Ice-T. He is an oldie. He was around when rap first came around. He is right though, Souja Boy is just a mindless Drone that follows the crowd making more crap music.

I heard about that too. Ice T was right but Soulja Boy's music is not as bad as the rest. The Superman is only a popular dance and Soulja Boy arisen to the music industry only on dance and not on rap. Soulja Boy's music is more Hip Hop than rap.

Not from what I see around me every day. Its alot of retards (yes i said it and i mean it) singing the lyrics to vulgar songs, such as Superman (definitly when it first came out) and they think its "cool". Its far from it. Its just a series of cuss words. If a rocker tried to go "fuck fuck money money bitch bitch" they would be nothing at all. (aside from jay and silent bobs fuck song, that was just hilarious comedy).

Your right. But I wouldn't use Soulja Boy as an example because his music is remembered through the dance despite how people sing his obscene lyrics.

Well its not just Soulja Boy. Its most rap lyrics that I came across during my research. I have never seen the words fuck, money, bitches more in my life then in rap lyrics. I was just randomly looking to. I had to censor my research paper for christs sake, I didn't have to do that with my Rocks impact on the ages paper.

I could only imagine.

Researching rap from the past would have been easier.

I don't listen to rock but I would assume your research paper was easier than the rap one.

Off topic: Since rap is the highest supported music in the market reworking it seems hopeless.

Well the essay wasn't on old rap. It was pretty much on how rap influences today society. Which according to lots of professionals it has a large negative impact which actually influences alot of crimes and promotes illegal activities. The rock essay was actually harder. Harder to find the information. But it was focused on the 70-80's not todays society like the rap one was. Rap shouldnt be the highest of anything >_>. I don't see why kids these days follow the crowd. Half of em probably don't even like rap they just want to look "cool".

It is crowd that everyone wants to be a part of but this crowd invests multi-millions into keeping the look alive.

Here's a quote from one of Jay-z's songs:

"The game's fucked up
Niggas beats is banging
Nigga ya hooks did it
ya lyrics didn't
ya gangsta look did it
so i would write it if yall could get it
being intricate'll get ya wood critics
On the internet
They like you should spit it, Im like you should buy it
Nigga thats good business
"

Rap is a good business and its influence on society doesn't matter to its investors.

is it just me, or does any1 else wish Tupac and NWA were still around? :D
I don't listen to rap music nowadays because it's too boring. The better rappers actually made sense and took on controversial topics, and though there was a lot more swearing, the lyrics were not just about fancy cars, whores, bling etc.

Recently Rap and Hip Hop sucks, good beats but seriously the songs they've been coming up with are so terrible it's obvious they're just singing for money. Rappers like Tupac are always going to be artists in my eyes because his lyrics came from his heart and he kept it real.

I still listen to rap though lol I'm in hip hop dance and I do C-walking too so yeah I love to groove to rap music and hip hop
