No, because all people are different. I can Listen to rap music and i'd never think to talk like that using bad words, saying nigga, using drugs, but some other person could listen to it and be like wow this guy who raps this is kool im gonna be like him and cuss and use drugs. there is a difference between people, thats why i said not all people who listen to rap are bad.

So What should be done about this ever growing fad? Its not as if we can simply pull the plug...
on a side note the same thing can be said about reggaeton

im not sure what raggaeton is, but you are right we cant just pull the plug. Just think for a second though, the world without rap. Rap influences alot of bad things, i cant think of one positive thing about it. not one. It will always be here though. if it was up to me i'd pull the plus on country and rap lol.

Lol well I never said Rap was 100% influence. Its a major influence though. Sure people are just born into a bad lifestyle and they might need to commit crimes to stay alive. However theres the other side of the spectrum where they do it casue its "cool".

To be fair, the "Rockstar Lifestyle" wasn't perfect itself. It promoted heavy drug use in the 80-90's. However it didnt do it with the music, but with the lifestyle. Even with that it only influenced the people in the business for the most part.

I listen to rap. I'm a big fan of rap music, but I don't listen to rap these days (busy watching dramas). Rap is considered music! As you can see rap is growing higher in the music society! Me I personally think Rap is just... rap. You know how there's different types of music. Rap has like 2 types. Meanings and no meanings. What is like... my brother listens to this rapper named Common. I haven't really listened to his songs, but I have with a few. It actually makes sense and says something. I like Common also. He's like my fave rap singer! He says things that make up a real sentence!

Now the no meanings are like the words being said. Like how Snoop Dogg says "Fo' Shizzle Ma Nizzle!" What the heck does that mean? I calculated that up and it means... nothing! Like all those rappers who like to curse and talk about topless girls dancing on the table and about sex, they are in my nothingness rap category. Rap is a music and will always be. But the two types of rap are two different things! Rap from back then made sense. I don't really know what has happened to the world that we all say "Fo' shizzle ma nizzle" It's just how we are. We just like a type of music that we think is great, but these days music is getting weak!

Rap is just garbage. All rap contains is lyrics that promote violence and drug use. they pretty much all cuss too. Rap truly is the Devil's music.

It's unfair how only mainstream rap is considered when people judge it as a music genre. Almost all mainstream music is treated as more of a business than an art form, because the artists are more interested in making music that sells rather than putting all of their artistic talent (assuming they have any) into it. There's plenty of great not-so-popular/underground rappers who don't it for the money, but for the love of the art and to express themselves, and many of them deliver positive messages and have thought-provoking lyrics. In fact, I think I read somewhere that currently 70% of rap songs made are by underground rappers, but I'm not sure how recent that statistic is.

Just know that there's more to hip-hop than what you see on BET and MTV.

nicely put but the problem with rap as one said is that most of the people who listen to that genre only know about the popular new songs...which are the ones that have no meaning

Thats not what i mean by "no meaning". No meaning as in lyrics like
"Who that, Weezy Bitch
Like Sigel, you fuckin with the young don, people
Plus I'm tryna make a son, he gon' be the sequel
Muh'fuckas better be peaceful, fo' sheezle
I get sums in lumps, like measles
My dough sick, on occations I catch seizures
I treat beef like burgers, just cheese you
And for that cheedar, hungry niggaz'll eat you
We breeze through in the twelve with the judo eyes
Bitches yell I wanna do those guys"

They might be sentences, but they are vulger and promote illegal activities.

Rap is music. Just like polka, rock, jazz, funk, and knocking on a table making a beat is music. The way I see it is if something has any form of rhythm, it is music. Rap has rhythm. Therefore, it is music.

I notice lots of people on message boards like absolutely hate rap. And the reason people hate rap is that people don't understand it. Simple as that. They always say, "Goburin, why do you like rap so much? You're not a violent person, but rap encourages degrading women, sex, drugs, and killing people!" Well, not all rap encourages negativity. For one song people use an example to promote their reasons about how rap is horrible, there are hundreds of other songs that promote positivity, conscious thinking, and all-around good vibes. But no one talks about them, now do they?

Of course, I don't blame the people for citing examples of only what they know. The media doesn't play the "good stuff." You have to be a fan like me to actually go out, do your homework, and look for the "good stuff." For every Lil' Wayne, Souljah Boy, and D4L, you have a Common, Andre 3000, and a Blacklalicious.

So yes. Rap is music.

I don't think that rap sucks. I just feel that the mainstream "rap" music is the shit that's being forced into people's ears. If someone sat down and listened to an artist with actual lyrical talent, then maybe they wouldn't feel that it's shitty.

Anything with a beat could be called music. But rap these days really don't tell a real story like it used to. I barely listen to it now.
