I watch alot of Romance/Comedy anime and this is what I've found.. :)

There is always an evil hot person who everyone hates but whenever you see them you go "QWOOAAHH! I would!"
(Eg. Sakujun from Saiunkoku Monogatari and Nakago from Fushigi Yugi)

There is always a bishounen character who normally ends up wearing girly clothing at one point or another..
(Eg. Ayame from Fruits Basket, Wolfram from Kyou Kara Maou and Yuki from Fruits Basket)

Theres normally a perverted character, whom is alot older than the person they hit on (or harass) If they dont then they normally have a big crush on that person and get a nosebleed over the very thought of them (Doing stuff....Yer...)
(Eg. Shigure from Fruits basket, Gunter von Christ from Kyou Kara Maou and Milch from Nodame Cantabile)

Finally there is always a misunderstood character who normally comes off as a bad person but is actually very nice
(eg. Ikuto from Shugo Chara, Leon from Kaleido Star and Zero from Vampire Knight)

Sorry if my spelling and grammers bad

Oh yes romance/comedy the best medicine for me. I agree with you. Thats what I most see in mangas and anime :3

School Uniforms: The characters seem to rather enjoy doing everything in their school uniform. (Kuwabara – Yu Yu Hakusho; Kagome – Inuyasha)

From Villain to Hero: Every anime has at least one character that makes the transition from bad to good. In most cases it takes a hard fought fight with the hero for this character to see a new light. (Aoshi – Rurouni Kenshin; Hiei – Yu Yu Hakusho)

Good ones! Especially about the school uniforms. Why do they wear those things 24/7?!

Maaaybe because they think its comfortable and only has one clothing XD Also they don't take a bath that much :O *gasp* Or maybe because the creator is not good at making clothes and to lazy to make new clothing designs.

Other situations that I've encountered watching many, many slice of life shows.

Elaborate Schools: Where the school building is built like a 16th century french mansion or is otherwise pretty damn big and has a certain theme towards it. (Examples: Ouran High School Host Club, Hayate No Gotoku, Eyeshield 21, Rosario + Vampire, Vampire Knight, etc etc etc). If you think about it, how many times have you ever seen a high school like that? Wouldn't you kill to get into a high school like that? Even the most prestigious schools around here do _not_ look like that.

Elaborate School Uniforms: Of which the guys just usually have a blazer - and the girls look like super loli goth sailors. (All of the above!). Or something like that. Basically, the uniforms look less like a uniform and more like something that you would wear at a cosplay and nobody bats an eye. Oh wait, perhaps they're meant to appeal to a cosplay audience. I'm confused.

Rival is actually on your side: In the beginning there will undoubtly be a rival that the main character is competing against but due to circumstances as they evolve eventually they will fight on the side of the character.

The freaking outdoor bath scene: Apparently there will always be a scene where everyone decides to go to a hot sping. And a pervert, perhaps the main character, will always try to climb the fence and have a peek. We all know that he will never get that peek, but instead be hit on the face with something hard and heavy and come out with a bloody lip. When was the last time they succeeded at doing that?!

Fanservice: Never underestimate the many many ways that a show will be padded with... fanservice. I hate ecchi. It doesn't progress the show or it's characters and serves as nothing but annoying eye candy.

Special Powers: Apparently there are people out there who have super powers that supposedly nobody knows about but then every other person has a variation on these powers. wtf?

I'll write more on this later.

i personally love to watch naruto... its quite intresting...

yeah it interesting but i'm bored of it i skip the first season (watched ep1-20) and watch shippuden only few episode though xD

Everyone's got their own opinions though the topic seems to be about anime repetitions.

I guess most anime's I've seen have instant nose bleeds.

Heroes who think up super attack names before they think up of the attack and are under the age of 15.

Good looking villains

Completely agree with you on those. Specially Elaborate Schools: and Rival is actually on your side. School uniforms in asia however often look very similar to the ones in anime. Believe me, I had to wear a blazer and tie to school everyday when i was younger.

After seeing dozens and dozens of anime I have noticed that there are several common "ingredients" that consistently appear in most anime. Here are a few that I've noticed:

Much to my disappointment, female characters are fairly useless in fighting anime: even if they start out "kicking ass" they end up as dead weight that has to be protected by the male "hero" (Lenalee - DGM; Sakura - Naruto; Yuya - Samurai Deeper Kyo)

Food is consumed in VERY large quantities with little regard to table manners (Goku - Saiyuki; Allen - DGM; Lina - Slayers; Goku - DBZ)

At least one of the central characters will have mighty muscles and a mini brain (Yusuke - Yuyuhakusho; Goku - DBZ; Gauri - Slayers)

The characters will recover within minutes from a beating that had them on the verge of death (Ichigo - Bleach; Kenshin - Rorouni Kenshin; Ginji - Get Backers)

The main characters will almost always include a character who's main purpose is to provide comic relief (Kuabara -Yuyuhakusho; Shippo - Inuyasha; Ayame / Shigure - Fruits Basket)

Okay that's a few I've come up with. Now I know that these truths aren't absolute, but I'd love to know if anyone else has a few more to add to this list.

:D

interesting! i agree absolutely! especially with the first one. why are girls always so useless?

i would include:
-Rivals: there will be a pair that's bickering non-stop and competing with each other all the time. (Inuyasha - kouga and inuyasha, naruto- sasuke and naruto, fruits basket- kyo and yuki)

-Perverts: enough said on the topic, there has to be one in every anime.

-Sad Pasts: main characters always suffer tragic a past/childhood (naruto - the entire cast, fullmetal- the elric brothers, code geass- lelouch, etc)

other than that, you pretty much covered everything.

Yes, all true. A past full of sorrow is always an "Anime Ingredient." A good addition to the original post.

Flimsy Shirts: A powerful technique leads to NO shirt! Thank god the pants seem to be more resistant.

You have to have A past full of sorrow, think of Lelouch fighting Britannia without a reason. That would totally suck... or that would be kinda fun, A psycho trying to kill his dad for no reason

Single Parent: Typically the main character has but a single parent. Unless of course they are already an orphen. A commonly used alternative.
