Well...in exactly a week, I will be moving 1300 miles from Florida to Wisconsin. As you might guess, I'm not too happy about it. I am leaving behind a boyfriend in Florida, and we do plan to stay together. I've never been in a real long distance relationship before (only in one where the guy lived 45 minutes away) and I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about doing it, so I was just thinking about the topic in general.

My questions to you are:
- Have you ever been in a long distance relationship?
- How far away were you?
- What major problems did you face with it?
- Any upsides?
- How did you go about making things work?
- Did the relationship work?
- Why or why not?

For those who haven't been:
- Do you think you'd ever get in one?

my girlfriend 3 years ago went to italy and i was at newyork at the time

it did go smoothly 4 1/2 a year 4 us
we did know that we will bound 2 sooner or latter find someone else that we like and we played it cool
we also had a 100 daLLOR BET on who will find a new partner first and i won
so i cant really give u any advisce or anythings since we did know that we will eventually find someone else

Distance stinks. Not being able to see them when ever you want kills.
I swear at the damn ocean everyday.
I don't know how people can pull it off for years. x__x

Dunno either >_< I think I'd go crazy if it was for years and years.

Long distance relationships are very difficult but if you can stay together after a long period of time of not seeing each other it actually makes the relationship stronger.

- Have you ever been in a long distance relationship? Yes

- How far away were you? 3000 miles (California-New York)

- What major problems did you face with it? Communication: we didnt talk everyday. Meeting other people: he met pretty girls, and I
met hot guys. It's college after all. Mix that with drunken parties and not seeing each other for months.

- Any upsides? we both met other people and both fell out of love so we both didnt get hurt, if you can consider that an upside. Mutual understanding of the breakup.

- How did you go about making things work? We tried calling each other as much as possible, but it was hard. I didnt exactly lock myself up in my dorm, but instead, I met soo many wonderful people. Things just didnt work out, and we knew that.

- Did the relationship work? No

- Why or why not? I personally lost interest (we've been together for a year and a half). I met other guys, having fun, and didnt want to worry about him and another girl drama.

Dude, come on. You're 14 freaking years old. That means you guys were 11 when you first started going out. That's not a real relationship, that's middle school. You haven't had enough experience yourself to be giving her advice. She's older than you.

You mean you didn't want an everlasting love, when you were a pre-teen?

I'm sure I did somewhere in the back of my head but girls were so cruel in middle school... I'd be surprised if I actaully got a crush on one girl in my entire school.

Middle school was rough for me,man. I was fat until I was 15. I didn't get any girls until Freshman year of high school. I was always the "loveable , safe friend", until I shed 70 lbs and got in shape. When I hear fat kids bitch and moan about how they want to get girls and lose weight, I tell them to do what I did. Bust your ass for two years and you'll get there.

Damn congratulations man, it's good that you independantly work on the things you didn't like about yourself. I hate hearing people bitch and moan, it's not going to do anything. If people could wish away their problems life would be so boring in my honest opinion.

I didn't hate being fat. Teasing didn't really bother me, it was not getting female attention that drove me to it. I was always an athletic kid. I had been in karate since I was 5, but being an Italian, I ballooned up during 11-12. I just started working out more and cut out all sweet foods, except on weekends. Two years later, I had abs again.

About the whole "long distance relationship" stuff. If some people can make it work, good for them. I know that if I wasn't around my girl all the time, my eyes would start to wander and I would start talking to other girls.

Is bad!!!! Example: My uncle has a girlfriend who leaves in Dominican Republic and he lives here. He only goes to see her twice a year and supposedly he loves her to death, but still cheats on her and I'm pretty sure she's doing the same. I can't judge everybody, but in my opinion it's not worth it.
