not really afraid of death. i think of it as a nice long sleep.
the world sucks, i dont understand why everyone wants to hold on a little longer or seek immortality.
what im scared of is the transition from life to death/afterlife (if there is one) , i mean does it hurt?

you know most people who say 'im not afraid' are perhaps those most afraid-its easy to act tough when the reality of your own death is far removed, tust me, i should know
anyway, y? it's cuz i won't be recognized or acknowledged and unable to make myself better. When i die i become static and the only thing left behind is what i did-i can't do anything else. Can't hug loved ones, can't play games, can't interact with those i 'left behind'. That's the most frightening, yet intriguing thing for me

well its cuz you never know whats gonna happen in the other side....but i dont care anyway if i live to see great technology in the future (flying cars and airships! (final fantasy freak LOL))and have lots of kids and grandchildren then I'm happy |

Want an almost scientific answer to why people are afraid of death?
Because we've been evolved to do so. Death is scary, especially sudden unexpected death, because it means that your gene can no longer be passed on. And if enough of a certain species is unafraid of death, then that species might be more easily wiped out due to behaviour that is far too reckless. The instinct of self-preservation is an almost necessary condition for any species to survive, so we've an extremely deep-rooted fear of death because it is adaptive to be afraid of it.
Personally, I'm just afraid because it means I no longer exist. I still have too many things ahead of me at this time. Perhaps someday when I've left behind a legacy that I can be proud of I might not be so afraid of it anymore. Too far ahead for me to imagine currently though.
