Why Are You Afraid Of Death?
Posted 3/18/12 , edited 3/18/12
I am not spiritual and don't believe in an after life so when I am actually dead I won't know it or care.
The only part I have any concerns about is the transition as there are ways I'd rather not die.
They say we're more than the sum of our parts, but I don't think we've properly counted all the parts i.e the brain is still largely a mystery.

I'll take living over dying any day but as I got older I gradually accepted the fact that one day it will all be over. I would actually embrace death if I lost my Independence and overall quality of life. To me just existing is not living.

I don't know. Fear of death seems to be hardcoded in our genes to a certain extent. You know, the survive at all costs kinda thing? Obviously, being humans we can overcome that with plethora of tools (philosophy or acceptance etc..) ... That being said, as to the what is scary about a "natural" death? I just don't want to die knowing that I never did anything meaningful with my life. Not in the "Go and get a great job" or "Change the world" kinda way. It's the not having someone that I loved and being loved back kinda thing. Making a big difference in one (or multiple) peoples lives. hope that makes sense.

I'm not afriad of death.
I can't wait to get to sleep.

The reason why some people would fear death is fear of the unknown. We can't know what will happen after we die; we can hope but we can't know.

I'm not afraid of death, only the pain or terror involved in the act of dying i.e. the drowning or burning to death yes I fear that. A peaceful death doesn't worry me in the slightest, I've lead an awesome life. It'd be a bit of a waste that my anime collection wouldn't go to any children but I've been too busy enjoying the many different anime worlds to give a crap about the real world. I get enough of that at work...

Because Lala has a wonderful life that she does not want to throw away. There's so many people saying they're looking forward to their death, something is wrong with them! Rather, something is wrong with society!

It doesn't scare me. I'm waiting for it actually; even looking forward to it. If I died tomorrow I honestly wouldn't care, just the fact of knowing that I lived a life, I made some mistakes, and that I was perfectly human makes me feel complete. We were born to die, it's natural. I think one reason people fear it is because with society today tells us that we should want to be remembered by something and get the most out of our lives which is fine. Live life to the fullest since it's limited, so what if you didn't get to do everything you wanted to do. Isn't being alive good enough? Dying is the consequence of the gift of being alive. Hope that makes sense to people other than me, if it didn't then please just ignore it...

I'd be kind of excited cause then I'd know if religion is real or not. Like I have a religion and all but I do question many things so I'd like to see if there is an afterlife.
