I'm starting to shit myself because I'm paranoid that we're still gonna be conscious when we die, but in a bad way, like the afterlife is just laying there, completely numb, not being able to do anything, just staring at the dark. Bloody hell that would suck.

yeah, i agree. forget hell, just laying somewhere would be more of a hell to me. i don't really think that's true though. i really think that reincarnation is the most correct sounding theory to me.

being dead will probably feel like how you felt before you were born. remember how that felt? me either.

but who isn't afraid of death? its scary to think about disappearing forever and the whole process might even hurt a little.

I am afraid of death because I do not believe in an afterlife. So the idea of not being freaks me out even if I won't be aware of it once it happens.

Death is inevitable, if we were immortal life would lose value. But an optimistic way to see it is we can peacefully rest. So live life and enjoy it while you can.

Tomorrow is Wednesday and that terrifies me. I hate Wednesdays. I don't know what is going to happen tomorrow. The unknown is scary.

That was sarcasm if you couldn't tell. Fear of death is like fearing a day of the week. Tomorrow's events are uncertain and there is absolutely nothing the whole of humanity can do to prevent tomorrow from being Wednesday (other than changing the name, but the day would still be the same). Likewise death is an eventuality for all of us and no one, not even the whole collective efforts of humanity, can stop that eventuality.

Do you get on an amusement park ride to have fun or do you spend the entire ride worrying about when the ride will stop? Life is the same way.

I'm not afraid of death. It is an inevitability for everyone and fear is a useless emotion. Fear leads people to make stupid decisions. Fear keeps people from moving forward. There is nothing wrong with enlightened self interest (if a bear is chasing you, by all means run away), but fear is ALWAYS a bad thing to hold on to. I do not seek or desire death, but its going to happen eventually. Fearing death is like fearing a day of the week. Tomorrow is Wednesday and we are all going to die (eventually, but not necessarily tomorrow, just, you know, eventually). So do with life what you can instead of worrying about when it is going to stop.

Remember having a really deep sleep without dreams? Yeah, I imagine death is like that. It'll be nice not to have to stress about anything. I am not looking forward to the actual dying part, that is usually a pain in the ass followed by health problems or an accident. I'd rather avoid that bit. Personally I hope to have my fragile 90-year-old neck snapped by a hot young blonds legs while she's twitching in the throws of ecstasy -- that or OD on heroin or morphine when I decide I'm too old to live anymore and simply float away.

Actually, I do not fear death that much. I really kind of look forward to it! St. Paul in the New Testament said it best, "for to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

I'm not as scared of death as I am of not completing what I want to in my lifetime. But, that just means I need to get off my ass more. I think a change that drastic however, is something at least most of us fear, it's something completely unknown that directly effects us. But then again, you can't be brave if you weren't afraid to begin with.

I can't wait to die, definitely not afraid of it. My life is an impairment on civilization anyway, so I need to die as soon as possible.

What happens after death is unknown.

Everyone fears the unknown. It is one human's basic fears.

If you're that determined to die, then what is stopping you? Unless I'm very much mistaken, I've seen you post comments along the lines of feeling you have no self worth, so I figure someone or something is motivating enough for you to stay around, at best. At worst, it's a statement strictly designed for attention, and I'd rather not think the worst of anyone in cases like this. I certainly don't wish suicide on anyone. I've lost people I cared about due to it, and I strongly feel that there are multiple victims of suicide: The one who commits it, and everyone they knew who they leave behind.

I'm rather curious why people make posts like yours. I can't make you see that you have self worth; that's purely up to you. I will suggest that you seek help, professionally or otherwise. If you want to vent, my inbox is open, if you want to take that option. I care enough to at least make this post, so don't try to convince me or anyone else that "nobody cares about you". I heard that bullshit line from a close friend who did end his life; and whether or not he chose to see it, people cared, and his loss is still felt years afterward. By even posting at all in this forum, it implies that you wanted someone to read it. Maybe you weren't expecting a response, but you got one. Do as you will.
