Hi!! I'm Professor Rissa [Rissa being my nickname] but you can call me whatever you would like..and I'll be your Muggle Studies teacher for at least at least a few semesters!!

Classes start when I have at least three students ...so please sign up on the Muggle Studies wall! Introduce yourself, and please tell me what you would like to learn in muggle studies this term!

EDIT as of 08/09/08:

I have reconsidered having put on classes on a Saturday [in Canada time..for my students that are not in America...it's the 10th, right?]...so classes are Monday-Friday from now on...Sorry for the inconvience :)

EDIT:

As of 08/07/08, the Muggle Studies class has officially started...please...kindly, everyday click onto the Muggle Studies forum...and here, on the first post of the forum, you will be learning from this post!! So..the suggestions..are first suggested, first served..so we will go with learning how to sew [suggested by animexcool]!![/green]

Okay..first we will start with hand sewing...

Things you will need:

- Scrap fabric [perferbly cotton, or quilt scraps, but anything's fine.]
- Scissors
- Sewing needle
- Pencil
- Thread
- Time and patience
- Thimble - Just to protect your middle finger on your sewing hand
- Pins - You know those pins with the plastic-pearl thing at the end? Those are used for keeping your fabric together when you sew, so it won't slip or fall apart.

First, please take two pieces of fabric.
Then, cut a piece of thread as long as the distance between your nose and the tip of your finger, and then thread the cut end through the eye of the needle [the little hole at the top of your needle], and then fold the thread in half. Then, tie a knot in the ends of the thread.
Now, class, please lay one piece of fabric, wrong side up, on a flat and hard surface, while laying the other piece, wrong side down [wrong side down, means the side with no pattern on it], on top of the first piece.
Now, take out some of the pins, to pin down the two pieces of fabric together, so they won't slip while you sew.
Then, use a very soft-leaded pencil to draw a line where you would like to sew..
Beginning on the right [if you are a righty..if you're a lefty, then use the left if you want] end of the seam, insert the needle through the two pieces of fabric [that are pinned together]. Now pull the needle up through the layers so that the knot comes up to the fabric.
Now 'weave' the needle, in and out, at least three times. Pull the needle through tightly, but not to tight, or it will pucker. Repeat the pattern while slowly going up the line you drew earlier with that soft-leaded pencil.
After you are finished sewing the line that you drew [ now called 'the seam line'], double knot the remaining thread [if there is still some] by sewing another tiny stitch, and then poking the needle through the thread loop to create that knot.
Press the fabric flat so that the fabric lies open on each side of the line you sewed.

And there, ta-da!! You just sew your first piece of fabric!! I hope you had fun learning how to hand baste fabric [which roughly in English ( ) means how to sew in the most basic way!

I hope you had as much fun learning this, as I had fun expirementing and writing up these instructions!!

Next class starts tomorrow, August 8th! Till then, good-bye!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello class :)

Well...As suggested, I will be teaching how to heal burns and cuts WITHOUT magic...the muggle way..

First of all..to all my students that has always been taught that butter is the best remedy to treat a burn..is false...Butter actually delays healing, and if you have a major burn...might even cause an infection. And never...I repeat never put ice on it..Your burn's burning, and when you put ice on it..then you have frostbite...which will hurt both ways..burn and frostbite.

There are various of ways to handle a burn.

One of them is to make a paste out of baking soda and water and put it all over the burn...Most likely that would do the trick..if not then try any other of these suggestions:

If not major..you can pour milk over the burn.

If not in a hurry to get rid of the pain..you can always try spreading a thick paste of toothpaste on the burn..At the very most [with my experience...] it only lasted 10 minutes.

Now...about the cuts..

If you have cut yourself..and bleeding...pour vinegar on it..It should clot right away and then stop bleeding.

If not, hold your wound under running cold water.

If your cut isn't where it can easily get dirty, then you wouldn't need to put a band-aid on the cut..If it is, it's safer to protect it from getting dirty or wet.

Well..that's it for now, class!

Oh..and happy 08/08/08!!

Okay...Lesson # 3~~! --- How to use the feletone.

Okay..so basically, there's four kinds of phones, so that means one method on how to use the phone for each type of phone.

Use the landline [the phone that you pick up that has a cord to it] phone, by picking up the receiver, and dialing the number from the base by pushing down each button of the number you are dialing. Always wait for a dial tone before dialing. Make sure you replace the phone onto the base after you are done talking.

Know how to use a rotary telephone in case you come across it in a hotel, or at someone's home. Lift the receiver off the phone, place your pointer finger into the opening in the keypad, in the letters or numbers that you want to dial. Then just turn the dial clockwise until your finger meets the fingerstop. Repeat for each number or letter you need to dial. This takes so much longer, because the dial pad has to return to the start, each time you dial a number. This is why this phone was replaced with the numerical key pad.

Use the wireless phone by merely picking up the phone itself, place the receiver to your ear to make sure you hear a dial phone, and pressing each phone number you want. Then walk around the house, with the phone. No more wires and no more having to sit in one place to make a call, or receive a call.
The cell phones, and mobile phones are used the same way, except they can be used outside, and have the ability to call someone all over the country or the world, depending on what type of contract you have. You can save numbers in their storage, and with one finger, can dial anyone, anyplace. Some phones are also voice activated, so all you have to do is talk into the phone and with your voice, saying the name of the person you want to call.

So that's it for learning the feletone!! See you tomorrow...Tomorrow's class, is, I believe, learning how to knit! Have fun using the feletone!

NOTE: Each day, you will find your class on THIS POST..any questions, comments, or anything you would like to say, can you please post it on the class forum [a.k.a. here]..Thank you!

nice..~

Okay class...Tomorrow...since I gave you guys a day off yesterday and the day before..We're having a pop quiz :)

HAHAHA...just kidding..sorta.

We're having a test.

I'll delete all I have on my first forum post, and I will post the quiz on here. Who ever has the highest score, will get 35 points for their house. Second highest will have 25, third will have 15, okay?

Whoever participates will get 10 points for their team..So the test [so I can give you guys another day of studying...]will be tomorrow, the 15th of August! I will also post this on my first forum post..So get ready to be tested!!

And, if I get approved from the other mods, I will raise the prize points up for then next quiz. There's a quiz every week..unless I'm being lazy
