Symbols

Symbols and Marks are use to decorated wardrobe worn by ninja or animals. They are a symbol of identity, defining who and what they are.



3 Headed Snake
Owner: Orochimaru (Perform by Sand Ninja)
Location: None

This symbol was created by the Sand Ninja during the Invasion of Konoha. The Symbol, representing 6 corner that require 6 ninja to perform the technique in parallel with a scroll. When processes is finish, the ninja will slam the scroll against the ground and a 3 head snake will appear. Heaven Curse Seal symbol on the snakes' head.

Ai Symbol
Owner: Gaara
Location: Left forehead

Gaara carries the "Ai" kanji "love" symbol on his left forehead. Realizing that nobody loved him, Gaara used his sand to create the symbol when he was younger.

Akimichi Symbol
Owner: Chouji and Chouza
Location: Font of outfit

Choji and Choza, the Akimichi Clan, are seen wearing this symbol on their front outfit. The symbol symbolizes the high consumption of calories, which is quite logical since they have the sweet for snack.

ANBU Tattoo
Owner: ANBU Members
Location: Left Shoulder

All ANBU memebers wear this tattoo. It would also mean that Itachi and Kakashi has this tattoo on their shoulder but we have yet to see it.

Akatsuki Red Cloud
Owner: Akatsuki
Location: Black Coat

The red cloud is seen on the Akatsuki black coat. It is a symbol of their organization. The red cloud have something to do with Dawn or Red Moon, as the name Akatsuki implies.

Choji Cheek Mark

Location: Both cheeks

The swirl symbol is drawn on Choji's cheeks. Each Akimichi member have their own marks on their cheek.

Gamabunta Symbol
Owner: Frog Boss Gamabunta
Location: Back of jacket

The Frog Boss Gamabunta wear the "Ebi" Kanji which means lobster or shrimp. It is impended on the back of his jacket.

Hinata Symbol

Location: Both jacket shoulder

This symbol is place on the left and right jacket shoulder of Hinata. The symbols is related to her name somehow.

Jiraiya Cheek Mark
Owner: Jiraiya
Location: Both Cheeks

The curvy lines is drawn on Jiraiya's both cheeks. He has this cheek mark when he was little. The line changes as he ages.

Jiraiya Forehead Symbol
Owner: Jiraiya
Location: Forehead

Jiraiya wears the "Abura" symbol meaning "oil" on his forehead. Oil is a substitute for medicine.

Healing Symbol

Location: Anywhere

All medical ninja are able to form the healing symbol, used for healing. We seen this done by Sakura while she try to heal a fish and the surgery with Neji.

I Symbol

Location: Left chest and back jacket

All Leaf Village medical member wear the "I" kanji meaning "Doctor" on their left chest and back jacket.

Kage

Location: Front of hat

The "Hi" Kanji standing for fire is seen worn by the Third Hokage. All 5 kages that wear this outfit will have the prefix of their country on the front of their hat.

Kake Symbol
Owner: Tsunade
Location: Back jacket

On the back of Tsunade's jacket, their is a symbol for "Kake" meaning "gamble". The Kake Kanji (the Japanese letters you see in the picture) reflects her personality - that she is a horrible gambling addict.

Kankuro is seen worn this face paint on his face. It is decorated with purple markers that shows nobility or righteousness.

Location: Both cheeks

The wavy triangle mark is imprinted on both cheeks of the Inuzuka Family.

Kakashi's Dog's Symbol
Owner: Kakashi's Dogs
Location: Back shoulder

This symbol is like a tattoo found on the back shoulder of Kakashi's dog. Only the bull-dog seems to have this symbol.

Orochimaru Hideout

Location: Top of Hideout

This snake symbol is seen on Orochimaru's hideout. The snake represent the person that he is, a snake tamer.

Orochimaru Summoning Tattoo
Owner: Orochimaru
Location: Left Arm

Orochimaru wears a snake like tattoo that runs from the elbow to the wrist. Whenever he needs to summon Manda or other snakes, he would wipe the blood straight down the tattoo, starting at the tail (elbow) and down to the head (wrist).

The Police Headquarters' bears the Uchiha Fan, as the found of the organization. It is surrounded by four-edge star.

Shikamaru Symbol

Location: Both jacket shoulder and back

This symbol is worn by Nara Skikamaru on his left and right jacket shoulder and back. It look like the symbol of peace or something like that.

Tsunade Forehead Mark
Owner: Tsunade
Location: Forehead

One of the 3 Legendary Sannin, Tsunade bears this mark on her forehead. It is a place to draw or collect chakra. This allows her for fast and easy healing. It was said in Naruto that when Tsunade used this, that it made her age, however we haven't seen any instance of her aging after she used it - at least none that we could see.

Uchiha Symbol

All members of the Uchiha Clan bear this symbol on their back jacket. Taken from the Japanese word Uchiha (Uchiwa) meaning fan.
