That is a crazy question but MAnor of sleep is COmes to my mind right away. A bunch of reasons ,
1. you are only there when yuou sleep
2. there aren't many ghosts outside
3.there are less ghosts
4.There are a few ( bloody ) closets that ghosts never enter
5.there are like a billion places to hid from them
6. LIke all the ghosts walk slow
7.. Rieka has already crossed the rift
8. The ghosts aren't too gross looking

but then again , Thats just me ..... I fall asleep during horror movies and i find fatal frame comforting so these reason are probably apply to me only because im a freak

FF1 Himuro's mansion is about the same size as the Kurosawa mansion in FF2. maybe slightly bigger or smaller not so sure as in FF1 you explore it very deeply and at times you have to go back and there will be new places as you progress in the game more doors will be unlock and some will be locked.

FF2 may be better to live in as a place as there is less ghost, and less stronger. Also its bigger and nicer compared to Himuro's mansion. All ruined and well its messy and stuff. I haven't played FF3 before as i don't have the CD. Only for FF1 and FF2, both XBOX versions.

Btw, compared FF1 and FF2 normal, FF1 normal is freaking hard while FF2 normal is a push-over. Trust me, if you are a veteran player of FF1 and just brought FF2 for XBOX, try hard mode as XBOX only has normal and hard mode at the start. no easy mode. However if you don't want to risk it, by all means go ahead and play normal. but it'll be like easy if you played FF1 before on XBOX as normal mode is the only mode avaliable for FF1 XBOX when you play it for the first time.

you know about that. I actually only recently compleated FF1, after going through all of the levels of ff2 and ff3, then going back to ff1. The camera skills needed are much higher on that original game. I blew an xbox trying it the first time, (Mthrboard failure) and never could get through the whole "normal" game. But after I had played the others I got good enough that it was possible.

And unlimited ammo makes FF1 to easy (its unlockable)

I would rather go to manor of sleep, because I could meet more interesting other victims, if I could survive long enough.

but for FF1 on xbox, u can only unlock the unlimited film at Fatal Mode (beat nightmare mode to unlock) in the 4th night as there is one ghost on your list which can only be found in fatal modem last night. SO that makes it harder to get the unlimited ammo for nightmare mode unlike the PS2 version. and Fatal mode is like insane , i haven't gone far in that yet but already when i played nightmare mode it wasn't easy for FF1

True but I am Ob/co and must ahve all of the outfits, so eventually you just have to takle fatal mode. My main advice is reload any time you use more then the optimal film, or rather than healing.

lolz . i am still playing nightmare in FF2. decided to stop FF1 in fatal mode first night. next time then i'll continue it. But its like i can nvr truly stop playing them cuz they are slightly different at every mode and it gets harder and more challenging.

P.S. i think we better stop after you reply to this if you want too cuz we are straying off topic. We can chat using others ways still if you like to continue discussing or talking about this.

Minakami village...
I love the Kusabi's one hit...

Personally, I'd love Himuro Mansion. Not because it is safest or anything, but because it's so beautiful. I mean, The village is nice, and the manor of sleep is ok, but none of the other locations made the same impact on me as Himuro Mansion did. The layout, the decor, the entire mansion is just beautiful.

I can't decide if, assuming I win the lottery someday, I would want to recreate Himuro Mansion to live in, or Stauf Mansion (if you don't know what it is, look up 7th Guest. Brilliant game... but nothing to do with Fatal Frame so I'll shut up about it now). It's a tie between Japanese paradise and just plain creepy house.

all god's village scared me the most. it's not just a haunted mansion, it's a holle village!.
i'd pick the Manor of Sleep, cuz you only go there when you sleep, and when your feeling guilty for a loss.
