Like many historical movies, many things are exaggerated for entertainment.
I thought that this movie was worth the time watching. =]

For those of you curious about the actual Battle of Chi Bi, you can read about it in these places:
CRIonline
Wikipedia

Although I can't guarantee 100% accuracy of these two articles (one of them being Wikipedia...), it should give you a general idea.

For a more accurate history, check out the Chronicles (Records) of the Three Kingdoms.

There are some comparison according to some records of the 3 Kingdoms and this movie.

(1) Guan Yu never got caught by Cao Cao in the Changban battle, he came as a reinforcements with Liu Qi at the near end of the river. The wives and sons of Liu Bei actually survived the battle. Only the romance of the 3 kingdoms had stated the story of the sucide and Zhao Yun's rescue of the son.

(2) Cai Mao and Zhang Yun surrendered to Cao Cao way before the Changban battle under the decision of Liu Zong.

(3) Zhuge Liang won a huge debate against Zhang Zhao and the rest of the ministers, before meeting Sun Quan privately. The generals of Wu were in for the fight, however the ministers wanted to surrenders. Lu Su was one of the ministers who agreed with fighting. Zhou Yu wanted to fight against Cao Cao therefore making a visit to Sun Quan's resisdence where he met Zhuge Liang. When the two advisors sat down for the discussion, Zhou Yu lied to Zhuge Liang about his decision to surrender in order to test Zhuge Liang.

(4) Cao Cao did not fight this war because of the Qiao sisters. In fact, he never met them b4. Rumors of Cao Cao's lust for the Qiao sisters was a ruse made up by Zhuge Liang into to piss Zhou Yu off in order for Zhou Yu to be more determined to fight against Cao Cao.

(5) Zhou Yu trained the navy in Lake Boyang, not Chi Bi.

(6) Zhou Yu never visited Liu Bei's Camp. However he did invite invite Liu Bei over to his camp with a purpose to kill him. Zhuge Liang saw through the ruse.

(7) The warrior Gan Xing acted by the Japanese guy was actually known as Gan Ning.

(8) Liu Bei's army did not fight along with the Wu army, unlike the movie.

(9) I am not sure about this. I thought the first battle between Cao Cao and Zhou Yu was a navy battle in Wu Lin. If Cai Mao conquered Wu Lin before Zhou Yu, Wu's army is finished. While Zhou Yu led his army in the naval battle, Liu Bei's army blocked the land calvary counter attack from Cao Cao. After the lost of Cao's army, both sides reached Chi Bi for the preparation of the batte.

(10) Sun Shang Xiang was not involved in the battle, niether have she met Liu Bei for the plan of marriage during that period.

(11) If it is according to the true historical records, Zhou Yu and Zhuge never met in the battle of Chi Bi... The battle plan was planned by Zhou Yu alone. So I rather see the story with ROTK reference.

We would have to wait for the next movie to be shown...

I have watched the 2nd movie, and maybe wanna share with you guys the comparison between the movie and the actual story again.

I was rather dissapointed with the movie because they missed many interesting parts of the actual story, yet show more of the redundent parts. Here are some other interesting parts they missed out, and a brief explaination how the war is fought and why the big fire works.

Is it from novel?Though I never read ,I like the movies. But I think it could be longer of had third part to make them better... Hehe not quite sure...
