The rain came down in torrents. Looking up at the dark, thundering sky it was hard for one to imagine that it was midafternoon. The boy sat easily on a rock out on the beach. The waves splashed heavily against it but the boy took no notice. He was playing a tune on his flute. Heads poked out from the water surface. The merpeople found it hard to resist the sweet melody. The catious ones stayed at a distance while the more curious ones ventured closer to the boy. He held out a hand and one mermaid took it. Another one came to him and handed him a a large dead fish. A present. The boy thought, smiling slightly. Well that takes care of dinner tonight He played on to the delight of the merpeople, who had begun dancing in the water. He watched them, his mind already far away.

******************************************

Three year old Kyle Teef sat eating dinner. His mother was cooing to his younger sister, trying to make her eat the porriage. While his father, a giant of a man, sat silently, eating. Kyle admired his father, he was the strongest man in the village, infact some rumoured he was the strongest man in the world. Kyle had witnessed again and again while his father beat down men, some twice his size in a matter of minutes. And always his heart filled with pride. His friends envied him and he reveled in it. "Wow you are so lucky." Some said wistfully, and Kyle always agreed with them, little did they know that to Kyle his father was as much an enigma, just as much unapproachable as to the rest of them.
His father was not an unkind man, he had never hit or even raised his voice on any of them. But he had also never spoken to Kyle nor his little sister. The only person he spoke to was his mother, and that also when they were in the room alone.
Kyle watched as his mother breezed into the kitchen for something and upon the return pecked his father on the cheek, It always surprised Kyle when his father never hit his mother, whenever somebody else touched him, usually an opponent, his father always hit them. But his mother always got away with touching his father. Kyle wondered if his father would hit him if he touched him, then decided against it. It was better not to take chances.
Just then somebody banged on the door. Everyone looked towards the door and then his mother went to open it, "Excuse me Madam." The man was breathless, "I have a message for Yei Teef."
His father got up and went to the man, the man delivered his message in low tones. Kyle saw an expression flash across his father's face, but it was too quick for him to make out exactly what it was.
"NO." he heard his mother yell when his father nodded his head, "No, please Yei. DONT"
The man scurried away, while his mother, her face drenched in tears raced after his father. He said something to her and she began sobbing quietly. Kyle watched in stunned silence as she helped him dress in his armour, kissing his hands then his shoulders and again and again his face. He had never before witnessed his mother behave this way.
Finally his father left the house and Kyle quietly slipping on his shoes followed his father. For a while his father walked on with Kyle following in his shadows, then he stopped and slowly turned. Kyle tried to hide behind a tree but seeing he was discovered, walked towards him with his head bowed.
"Do you wish to see me fight, Kyle?" Kyle was shocked, his father spoke to him, and whatmore his voice was so gentle.
"Um yeah." Kely said enthusiatically, "B-because you are the best fighter in the world."
Yei smiled, a little sadly and nodded. "You can watch the fight."
And together father and son walked, silently towards the battle arena. Just outside Yei stopped and said, "Kyle I want you to find Master Jin." Kyle looked up at his father, the man's face was unreadable. "He taught me, I am sure you will learn much from him." And to Kyle's greatest surprise, his father patted his head. After that his father walked into the brightly lit arena, it was already full of people and very noisy and when his father walked in, the crowd roared its approval.
The man standing at the centre of the arena looked young and weak compared to his father. Kyle heaved a sigh of relief. His father would finish him in one blow.
"Are you Yei the axe weilder and the one they call the strongest in this village?" The young man asked.
Yei nodded and then replied, "And you be Esil the deathbringer?"
The man remained silent. The two man faced each other, each yeilding his weapon of choice, his father an axe, the man, a sword. The fight began and to Kyle it was the most spectacular fight he had ever seen, the sentiment seemed to be shared by the whole crowd for the arena was full of awed silence.

To Kyle, the fight lasted moments, his bear of a father lost quite easily, a resigned look in his eyes as the young man's sword tore into him. Kyle's shriek of horror was lost amidst the roar of rage from the crowd. The young man looked unmoved. Turning he vanished into the darkness without a word. Kyle stood stunned then turning he ran back towards his mother, as he burst into the cottage, he saw his mother sitting on a chair, quiet tears making their way down her face. When she saw his tear drenched face, she held her arms out wordlessly, Kyle ran into them sobbing.
His father was given a hero's farewell. The whole village attended his funeral. That night as Kyle's mother tucked him in bed he repeated his father's instructions to her, "No." She said firmly.
"But father instructed me." Kyle implored, "I must go mother. I must."
"You can when you are old enough." And without listening to another word she went out the room.
Kyle waited a few days when he was sure his mother had forgotten about the incident, then one night after packing food and clothes, he sneaked out the house, then hesitating he ran back in, kissed his mother and sister and set out once again.
He went to the stables where the family mare and pony were kept. Both the animals neighed when they saw him, "Shh, you two."
Kyle said and held his hand out to the mare, she touched his hand lovingly, "Take care of mother Sissy." He whispered, tears coming into his eyes, Sissy nuzzled his hand. Then he went to the pony, "Rori." The pony sat down, Kyle saddled Rori up.
And then waving goodbye to the cottage, he set off.

PRESENT DAY

Kyle got up, the merpeople affectionately called to him, they loved his music. "I will be leaving now." He said softly. The mermaid holding his hand clutched it tighter and looked gloomy, "I will visit you oneday." He said. Reluctantly she let it go.
Waving to the merpeople, Kyle hoisted his bag up his shoulder and set off once again. This will be my last day in Azuriya. Kyle thought, looking up at the sky and letting the rain beat at his face. Where to next? The next stop was unclear but the destination was not.
He was searching for Esil the deathbringer.

Kyle found the new town very intriguing, it seemed to be full of macho looking men. He heard the word bounty often and wondered what that was. He walked silently along, not wishing to draw attention to himself, mindless conversation was not his thing and these people looked exceptionally mindless to him. Unfortunately his young face and lean frame drew more attention to him than he bargained for and he felt himself being stared at, the looks ranging from open curiosity to undisguised hostility. The shadows at his feet, in the ground, moved restlessly, "Calm down." He said quietly, and the shadows ceased to move.
"EH?" a loud voice blared near him. A large, heavy set man was talking to him. Kyle lifted his eyes to the man's face. It was red and sweating heavily. "YOU SAID SOMETHING, PUNK."
Kyle didn't answer and made to walk past him but the man grabbed his shoulder roughly. The man didn't have time to blink, the claw that had risen from the ground tore his arm away. For a moment the man didn't move, then an inhuman scream tore out from his throat. Kyle face was blank as he passed the screaming man and walked away. But he sensed that the looks he recieved now were different from before, they ranged between fear and haterd. Staying in this town is out of the question. He thought as he walked on. Suddenly he found himself surrounded by six people. He looked at them silently, his face unreadable. One man inched closer and raised his hands in the air. "I don' wanter fight." He said, his voice rough and unclutured but low.
"Then get out of my way." Kyle said coldly. The men looked at one another, "We-- er--we have a proposition-no a favour."One of them began hesitantly, getting no reaction from the boy, he ploughed on, "We know a bounty, a big one. No bounty hunter has succeeded in cathin'it. We reckon the bounty aint no human." Kyle started walking away, "WAIT." one of the men said desperately, "Please we beg of you. Please catch'im." Suddenly they all dropped to their knees. "Please, he be a demon, he has killed nameless women and children, they say he's the son of the devil himself. We got no chance against him. But we saw you earlier, you are different, you can save us. Please, in the name of God, Lad, save us."
Kyle looked at them, Master Jin's voice echoing in his head, Never turn away a chance at a kind deed, Kyle. It'll help you atone for all the killings you'll do
Looking at the men at his feet, he nodded, "Very well." Kyle said. "Who is he and where can I find him?"
"Last we heard he was in the Sadoyus region." The men hurriedly handed him a poster with a man's face on it, beneath it a caption read.

WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE

SANGO SHINZO

CHARGED WITH MAN SLAUGHTER

REWARD: $80,000,000

Looking at it, Kyle nodded, "Very well." And with that he walked away, the poster in his hands.
The men watched Kyle disappear out of sight, "Hey, will he be enough?" One asked his companions, a little worried. One of the others replied, a wicked smile on his face, "Did I not tell you fellows that Lady Luck will smile upon us soon?" Laughing, he clapped his buddies on their backs. "With this lad in the picture, I am sure that Sango will be caught. Nothing better to capture a demon but a demon. We can wager on him and we can earn millions." And laughing heartily the six men made their way into the pub to drink to their good luck.

Meanwhile Kyle set on a path to search for Sango Shinzo. A man who killed women and children. Kyle thought bitterly, Unforgivable. And Kyle Teef set out for the Sadoyus region.

Small droplets of water scattered as it heavily smashed onto the rock above the leaf, shaterring in tiny debris as a large purple foot trample over every small speck of land that remained amongst the ruins of Rogur, one of the small troll villages. The tall figure stepped out the shadows of the bent tree and revealed it's true form, covered in silver plate and cloth, long braided hair portruding from the helm, it's long draping cape flapped with the torn skirt under the belted hip armor, the right arm rested a half spear hilt attatched to a thick long blade, while the left arm dragged an enormous tower shield along the ground. "My village... Or what remains of it..." a voice echoed within the helm. "Jakriel... Jakriel Nouvinguur... Is that you..." called a faint voice under one of the heavily burnt and torn down houses. Jakriel was quick to act and used her huge strong legs to scatter the debris in every direction, freeing a severely wounded troll's head from suffocating. "Yes it's me. Elder." she replied, lifting the face plate of her helm to show the beautiful figure that was her face. "What happened here?" she asked. "Humans... Raiders... Sacked our villages while the hunters were out... Ambushed them as they came home individually..." replied the elder, gasping for breath for every word, she tried to get more debris off but he kept talking "Your mother... And sister... All the women was taken..." he continued "Alive... I think..." he tried to continue some more when an arrow whistled pased her helm creating sparks as it grazed and struck the elder's forehead.

"So there was one more? Wait this one's armour is different." called a voice behind Jakriel. She quickly covered her face and leered behind her to see six human males, well armed and equiped pointing crossbows her way. "I thought the main party sacked this place good with no survivors. I guess they got lazy and left one alive." called a large man. Jakriel stayed quiet and lowered her weapon on the right facing down towards the middle of their group, while she clenched the handle on her shield. "Fire!" commanded their leader behind them, but she was quicker, her shield had alraedy completely covered her entire front flank, using it to it's potential while charging forward into their midst. "SHIT!" yelped a poor man as her blade sliced his neck clean, quickly pivoting to the right side and swinging an entire 90 degrees on a downward motion the first man to find the blade tried to parry, but his weapon was completley shattered, getting decapitated on the torso, while the one behind him was sliced through the hip, and the one behind that lost both his legs. During her swing she kept her shield behind her, where two tried to swing their swords just to find it rattling their wrists at the impact of the strong wall hindering their path. Jakriel quickly turned tot he two, aiming her leg on one's face and crushing it to the ground while using her right to execute a downward swing completely splitting the 5th man in two. "Two more..." she mumbled under her breath. "Holy shit who is this guy?" said their leader hiding behind the large man, barely half the size of Jakriel. "I'm the woman that's going to clean you off this pittiful world!" she yelled out as she pushed herself from the ground aiming a knee into the large man before he could swing his weapon, then using her left arm she swung the great towershield and slapped the leader with it, digging leg to head like a nail into the ground, giving him no chance to blink or breathe she struck her blade straight down the man. "This plague called humans, need to be wiped from our world." she called out, turning to the large man, who was small in her presence, struggling to get up while holding his bloody broken nose. "Please spare me!" he begged, kneeling down with his face on the ground. "I'll reconsider, if you tell me where your main party resides." she replied coldly. "They.. They traveled to the north! To Anizama! To sell some of the new slaves to the rich folks. If you are trying to rescue the slaves it's too late, they will be sold to the rich noblemen in two days." explained the man, "2 days... It usually takes a week to travel that far..." she pondered and began drawing on the ground before the man. "If i run east and take a river boat that leads to Anizama it will take half the time... But if i get off at the mid port and run through the marsh I can reach there in three days, given the time I should be able to find these vile nobles." she explained to herself and got up. "Thank you for sparing me!" the man bowed low, to meet a blade deep behind his neck purtruding out the front "But... You said..." he tried to speak, "I said I'd reconsider, I didnt say I would let you live" Jakriel pulled her weapon and turned with a hasteful dash east.

Rick landed in the capital four hours later. Since he had been snoozing the enitre time, he looked tounsled and sleepy when he boarded off the plane. In a bad mood, he ordered the bewildered driver to take him to Whereever the hell Im supposed to be."After three hours of driving, the driver pulled up at a Castle in the heart of Siki, a small state in Azuriya. The Castle bustled with activity. Rick got out and was immediatly greeted by an eldery butler. Bowing low, the butler said, "It's a pleasure Senior Captain Welsh.'
Rick sighed, "Im glad to be here." He said trying to keep the irk out of his voice.
"Please follow me." The butler said and led the way through an intricate hallway. Suddenly Rick found himself in a large, magnificent room, A young woman stood on the far edge, gazing intently out a large window. She turned slowly at the sound of their Footsteps, the butler bowed deeply to her and left the room, Rcik inclined his head, "Mr. Welsh." She said softly, gliding across the room to him. "Princess Saya." Rick said, the woman was beautiful. "I'm glad you came." She murmured. She led the way to a table and proceeded to pour them tea.
"Why is it that you require a body guard, Princess?" Rick asked.
Saya looked at him solemnly then said, 'Ive been threatened. The person remains anonymous, but he has clearly stated that he wishes to dispose of me and take over the throne. I think it'll happen this week at the coronation ceremony."
"I see." Rick said.
"My people have chosen me as their next ruler, Mr. Welsh." Saya stated, her voice fim with resolution, "And I dont intend to diappoint them by letting some coward take the throne."
Rick nodded, "Ofcourse Princess, please rest assured that I'll do my best to protect you."
Saya looked relieved, "Thank you Mr Welsh. Im counting on you."

Kyle galloped at full speed and within a day he was crossing Azuriya's border. He headed towards the eastern villages. Half a day later, Yun thundered into a seemingly deserted temple. Kyle jumped off. Taking off his shoes, he ran up the steps of the temple. He bowed before entering the temple. An old man sat at the centre, smoking a pipe. He turned slowly towards Kyle, a benign snile on his face, "Mater." Kyle said dropping on his hands and knees.
"So youve finally met an opponenent that tests all your strength Kyle." Master Jin said, getting up.
"Yes Master." Kyle said, "Im afraid I might need to use that technique against him."
The Master looked at Kyle, "Can you not resolve this peacefully, Kyle?"
"The creature is a monstor, Master." Kyle said, "He thrives on killing, If I dont give it my all, I will get killed, and I refuse to do so before I find Esil."
The Master sighed, "Very well." And he led the way to underneath the temple.
A few hours later, Kyle was thundering back across Azuriya towards Sadoyus.

Sweat drifted throughout her entire body as she dashed at an incredible speed across a vast plane covered with short grass. The sun was perfect and the wind was just right, the weather in the region benefitted those that lived in it, but in the large bulky and hot interior of the armor she could only grasp of the real temerature as a dream. Her large shield left a trail of curved out durt, she finally stopped to rest. "Three consecutive days of running... I've finally made it... The heart of Siki..." she paused for a second then began walking at a normal pace, her large prints tailed behind her.

The sound of wagons and the merchants that yell on top of them echoed throughout every corner of the kingdom the moment Jakriel even got a glimpse of the large gate entrance. She clearly stood out having such a tall height, but no one seemed to have minded her for she wore armor with insignia of the Arcadian Knights, strong warriors loyal to the government, rumored to be incredibly strong, chosed warriors honed in skill to protect certain areas of the empire.

Not long after settling in and purchasing a room to an inn Jakriel began monitoring the kingdom, examining their water supply as well as their market for diseases and other harmfull things that could plague the are of harm. During her stroll along the main road a loud trumphet resonated throughout the streets and people began to scatter to the side. "Make Way! Make Way! The princess wishes to pass through!" yelled a man atop a large carriage pulled by eight horses, surrounded by ten guards from all sides of the vehicle. "So that's the rumored Princess Saya... To soon be crowned as the queen. This could get troublesome." Jakriel thought to herself, then slowly followed the carriage with great subtlety within the crowd and into the alleys, stalking every corner the princess would turn, cautiously watching the vehicle's surroundings. When the carriage reached the castle gate, Jakriel stopped and climbed up a building. "As I thought..." she whispered to herself, spotting four figures in different sections of the alleys taking close watch at the princess, "This could be troublesome indeed... But as I am not I have no idea where the traders are... And one of these suspicious figures do not seem to look like a human..." she leapt back into the allyway and tried to blend into the crowd, though her size clearly pointed her out.

Rick was travelling with Princess Saya, his eyes constantly roaming for anything out of the ordinary. "
Mr.Welsh." Saya murmured.
"Yes Prin- Saya?" Rick said, yesterday the Princess had requested that he call her by her first name.
Saya turned her face towards him, her eyes a smoky grey, "It's three days to the coronation ceremony. I hope you bear with all this, just a bit more."
Rick looked towards the cheering crowd, happy faces, big smiles. He smiled, "I can assure you, I'm not a least bit bothered." Suddenly out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a strange movement, turning he saw it, A large soldier towering over most people, standing in the middle of the crowd. His eyes were focused entirely on Princess Saya.
"Is that one of your soldier?" Rick asked Saya, she shook her head and said, "No. But he could be from the Arcadian Knights. They wander in and out of Siki as they please."
"I see." Rick frowned. He kept his eyes on the large soldier till they rounded the bend and the soldier was no longer visible.
"Do you have any idea who could be behind the threats?" Saya asked.
"Well Siki is on good terms with all its neighbouring states." Rick said, "And you have no personal enemies. Its a hard question to answer."
But Rick couldnt get the soldier out of his mind, In and out of Siki as they please, huh? Rick thought. That makes it fairly easy for unwanted guests to enter. He looked at Saya waving to the people, Ill double the security around her. He decided.

The moon's entangling rays brightened the now darkened city of Siki, noises from earlier in the day halted as everyone prepared for slumber. Slight chills of the wind blew at a monotone level over the rooftops where Jakriel squated on a corner of one of the tallest cubic building, her hair swimming in the sky like a long rope, she held her cape close to her body, so from afar she looked nothing else but a gargoyle.

Yards below in the secluded part of the allyways of the city Jakriel spotted the same four figures during the day, this time they walked together, and to her expectations one of them towered over the others, his built, ear, and height overwhelmed te others, he was their main muscle. The determined Kroll leapt from building to building, as silently as her furred metal boots could get, keeping distance but taking caution of her surroundings for allies that watch over the four.

The suspicious figures disappeared at a dead end on the long allyway Jakriel last spotted before leaping another two buildings to look at the otherside, she forced herself to take a risk and thread along that same hallway itself. Reaching the dead end she placed her palm on the walls to feel the vibration underground or beyond the wall itself, and as she expected once again there was movement, and not too far from her palm the wall was thinner than the rest, "A door." she whispered to herslf. Without futher arguement she dug her thumb at the center of the wall as a mark then left it for the night to watch over other parts of the cities.

Throughout the night she had found two other doors like the first, that scattered all around the castle, perfect for both ambush and escape routes, and most likely the fourth entrance resided within the castle itself. "I have to go inside the castle." she climbed the high wall and with a large heave she reached the very top. Her eyes zoomed to the gates of the castle, then surveyed the entire wall, counting every guard and look outs at the surrounding houses and some trees. "Heavily guarded, as I would expect from the coronation being two days from now..." she began hopping building to building, approaching the castle where she must enter before day break.

It was well into midnight, the guards had changed shifts, but Rick remained on duty at the guard tower, observing all the soldier activity around him keenly. It was to be the last two days before the coronation ceremony and Rick was alert. He heard footsteps behind him and he turned to see the princess making her way towards him, the moonlight shining off her black hair. She smiled at him,
"Saya." He said, hurrying over to her, "What are you doing here at this time?"
"I was getting bored." She said softly. "Any progress on the threats."
"We are not focusing on that at the moment." Rick said, "I just want to get the coronation ceremony over with before trying to catch the criminal."
She leaned back and gazed up at him so intently that Rick flushed, "What, anything on my face?" He joked.
"Do you remember the first time we met?" She asked.
Rick looked at her blankly. She sighed and then smiled, "It was at a dance. You were there with your commander, though you were only a soldier at that time you carried yourself with such confidence I thought you held higher office." She finished teasingly.
Rick laughed . Tanya had always called him an arrogant jerk. "I guess I was just trying to appear confident in such high society." Rick said jokingly. "
"You made quite an impression on me." Saya said, looking up at him seriously, "I never thought we would meet again and yet fate threw us together."
Rick looked at her. Actually you requested me as your body guard. Fate had nothing to do with it. He thought wearily but was saved from saying anything when a castle guard rushed in, profusely apologised for the interruption and asked for Senior captain's immediate presence, "We have a situation."

Using only the tip of her well trimmed toes Jakriel silently roamed the upper walls of the castle, roughly avoiding the guards as a tall pole or an armored statue, lucky enough they had some with her armor. When finally everything looked a bit clear, she hoisted over a barricade and leapt over twenty feet, landing very hard with a loud thud, scattering grass beneath her feet. "O shoot..." she sighed, trying to cover the huge footprint she had just made. Faint sounds of a conversation suddenly rose her attention, it seemed to have been voices from two people, a female and a male. Jakriel followed the monotone chuckles, as well as the high tone teases until it was loud enough to tell that they were actually trying to whisper to keep quiet, but her ill intent to overhear their conversation erased the fact that she was trying not to be spotted, she quickly pivoted her back onto a tree, making it rattle it's leaves, getting the two's attention. "Princess- I mean Saya step back!" Rick stood before the princess facing the tree, his hands tight on the hilt of his weapon, his eyes focused on the presence beyond the trunks of the large tree.

Rick stared at the large soldier before him, he had his gun out and it was pointed at the newcomer. He could hear the princess'es ragged breaths. I need to get her out of here. He thought. He had sent the soldier back earlier and now wished he was still here. I could have sent her back with him. His eyes fixed on the soldier before him. From what he could see, this was no ordinary human, it was twice the size of a normal man, the eyes that stared at him from the helmet were small, too small to be human eyes. Rick tightened his hold on the trigger, "WHO ARE YOU?" He commanded, his voice hard. The creature stayed silent, "Tell me before I blow your brains out." Rick snarled.

Jakriel echoed a slight snicked within the helm, then held her hands up "I am no threat, soldier. I'm merely here to investigate." replied Jakriel, easing the man's stressful fingers off the trigger to lay his weapons down. "What's your purpose?" asked Rick, the princess relaxed a little as well, getting a better look at the troll she came to a realization "Your the arcadian knight!" she called out, turning to Rick and placing a hand on his shoulder "Calm down, he is no threat." she smiled, "My name is Jakriel, of the Arcadian Knight. My recent findings say there's three headquarters from the slave trade group, which I spotted four figures, three human, and one, not human, spying from different corners of the twon during your stroll earlier today. They lead me to one hide out, and from there I found the other two. According to my experience and observation, two more of those entrances, or exits, can be found in the castle. I've also realized that it can be either a source of ambush or escape, both porpuses apply." explained Jakriel, catching the two humans dumbstruck by the information just recieved. "So Saya is in more danger than I've expected?" Rick placed a palm over half his face, he glanced at her, worried and perplexed. "May I have permission to search the castle. Princess." Jakriel knelt and bowed to Saya, awaiting her reply.

"O-ofcourse." Saya said twirling her hand, she curtsied. "Thank you for you hard work." Rick studied the troll as it bowed down adn with a whoosh disappeared from sight. He wiped the sweat from his brow, always direct interaction with magical creatures left him nervous. The pricess stood with her hand on her heart, when he turned to her he saw she was weeping quietly, "I-I t-thought h-he was the one..." She began sobbing.
"Shh." Rick took her in his arms, she rested against him and gradually her body stopped shaking. Awkwardly Rick drew apart. When she had calmed down enough he walked her to her room. She simply said "Thank you." And closed the room.
Rick returned to the guard tower, his mind on the troll. Then he decided to follow the creature. As he entered the Castle he found him quite easily, standing by a wall and inspecting it. He coughed lightly, the troll turned to him."Sorry for intruding." Rick said easily, giving the troll one of his most charming smiles and hoping it would work, it didnt, "But what are you searching for exactly?"
