1. she and her parents would be stuck there(like literaly stuck

where they were. like as if time had stopped )

2. it would bring sad memorys for her and haku

3.other spirits would come and take them away

4.everyone who ever watched the movie would cry even more then they already were
thats just my guess . i think the aurther lift us hagging like that on perpose.

I'm not sure. Like some of you said, it might have been because Chihiro would have been trapped. But it also could have been another way of saying "Don't regret anything." o.o
