Androids wanting to be more Human like is a bad thing...why? I just finished watching the premier episode and i loved it! I was hooked 7 minutes and 30 seconds in...so apparently in this society A.I. has advanced to the level that humans have human looking androids to do their bidding. it' s apparent that the Humans at large just see these androids as just another tool and not as a life form....so much so that the androids are required to display a halo in order to identify them selves. Humans who treat the androids like sentient beings or Heaven forbid love these androids are shunned from society! HUH....so, these humans are so AWESOME that they are able to see them selves as GODS with no equal! GOD, i hope the androids go all MATRIX on them and enslave all of Humanity!

what do you guys think?

"Androids wanting to be more Human like is a bad thing...why?" words that you ask of were already being answered by you, yourself... "so, these humans are so AWESOME that they are able to see them selves as GODS with no equal! GOD, i hope the androids go all MATRIX on them and enslave all of Humanity!"

if they were to being human like, and if "they" were to have feeling (love, happiness, sadness, anger, hatred), there could only be one outcome to this, and i guess you already know what.

It's like irobot.

The technology they have created can be dangerous, these androids are less likely to make mistakes in calculations and are like some super smart version of a human except their lack emotion and so there are differences between humans and the bots.

Also if you can't distinguish between a bot and human... people might start hitting on them and embarass themselves when they realize that the android is what it is and wont respond in that way to them... if it ain't programmed.

Ooh, I wonder if they have 'love androids' like in AI. D:

It does remind me of iRobot, with the 3 laws and all.
But what i don't get was the reverse thing Rikuo said.
Humans resemble Androids...Androids resemble Humans

Wow, some of these posts are gettin deep

yeah, i think that's interesting too, and that line was brought up again at last scene and makes me wondering.
Humans resemble androids, I can't really understand that.
But if androids resembel humans, could it mean that the androids copy the human's behavior (their master in this case)
just maybe.

I think it wouldn't do justice to compare it to iRobot since the robots in that film did not resemble humans, and they did not have a yearning to be more human-like by possessing a personality. A better movie, quite forgotten and underrated would be A.I. It came out when majority of us teenagers were still in grade school, so we couldn't really appreciate the film obviously. lol.

In that movie, robots completely resembled humans. There was nothing physical to differentiate them from humans unless you had the command words, x-ray scanning light thingy, magnet, etc. The robots were made to be workers/servants. But due to their human-like appearances, rise in society, and even possessing personality to make them "unique": people began to discriminate them out of fear. But then a prototype child robot was made to test if it could replace deceased children in a family. Which is how the movie begins with a husband bringing the child robot to his wife when their biological child was seriously ill. However their child gets better, but the wife is already somewhat attached to the child robot, thus she abandons him in an isolated area to save him from being scrapped. Through events and experiences in the movie, the child robot begins to develop human-like qualities (he yelled for help when he was about to be scrapped, something robots could not do) and eventually yearns to become human in order to be loved by his "mother" (the wife).

Quite a tragic movie if you haven't seen it.

I think the humans in the anime and movie hated the robots for the same reason: it was simply fear of the unknown. We fear what is different, strange.

But in the end, with truth comes understanding.

There would be no use for humans if these androids were to have human emotions.

Hey, i watched that show when i was I was 7, that's like around 7 years ago But, it was a magnificent movie. It was so good that I watched the show thrice. Sadly, I lost the CD for it alr

I never understood the ending to that story
If you haven't watch the movie, go watch it now. It's a really touching story that's worth watching in a 2h+ sitting.

In theory once androids will have emotions, ideas, and thoughts of there own they will be, effectively, human. I Robot, the book not the movie, is a good example of this, and as stated before A.I. (though i have not seen the movie i do plan to, but from what was said here i believe it helps my point) The entire question is: what defines humanity? Why should we decide that the Androids are inferior just because we made them? Once they have achieved self-awareness, do they not deserve the same treatment as anyone else? These questions are moot for the moment as that we are nowhere near making A.I. available, but then people will have to decide what is the difference between oppressing an android because its an android, and oppressing people because their skin is a different color than yours?

just a thought...

in less than 30 humans will be able to create robots with an intelligence level equal or higher than that of humans i general one team of scientist already created a robot who's intelligence evolves based on experience.......

this all because off evolution , human being need to envolve and we always pull back te olders to putt ourselves in front. Nature made creatures to take the leader of creators , children will overthrow parents like Zeus overthrow Chronos and Chronos overthrow Ouragnos ( greek mythology ). Myths , religions and other kind of stories tells the same thing Creatures and Creators aren't equals they don't need the same things.
To begin with androides are Robot ,Robot is a czech word that mean dirty (or forced ) job and because of that they're created to be slaves.

i do agree that androids and human must be distincguish...
but i just felt that is not wrong for andriods wanting to be human and act on their own.
is just a feeling of mine.
and the cafe is also created to let human understand their own or other androids
and i can't agree with human treating andriods like tools.
i hate it when its around ending and see people just throw things at androids face expecting them to carry.
at least respect them as if u can't respect androids how would u respect other people?

i think this anime is awesome, i can see on both sides about the whole androids acting humanly thing.
i mean it would be kool for them to act more human like... but.
if an android was to learn feelings such as hate and anger, and if it was to attack someone, it would be 3 tiems as strong as that person.
well in my opinion i think it would be awesome to have androids. and if they ever learned feelings then that would just be something i have to get used to

to be god and to create new life will consequently bring destruction for mankind is weak and fearful so we smite what we do not understand and lay down the hammer of destruction to start anew, the wheel of past and future will come full circle and we shall hence repeat our destiny once more...

we create what we cannot understand and we wonder why we kill

androids and humans coexisting with each other is a dream nothing more.. we humans nay our governments are to fearful for that to ever happen

in 10,000 will we still be humans. since as like all creature as time go on they evolve into a stronger creature.
By then the basic nature of animal may all be gone within use. since as time go on we lose more of are greed and every other instinct that we have that come from when we had no technology when we needed those instinct to survive. in 10,000 we may look completely different body work completely different minds work completely different. Then since we have evolve by then to have any none of are basic animal instinct.
Then we will be able to live with other type of advance civilizations and be able to live peacefully with are own creation of bio droids. As of know if we in counter other advance civilizations we would most likely start a war with them thinking that we was better like every nation have done to another in the past to other nation they in counted. On this earth as of know we are to uncivilized to be any where near a advance civilization.
The way we think right now it only start trouble
